Liquids to mush

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I’m looking for some advice on how long from surgery you went from liquids to mush?

I’m nine days post op, the pain has settled, but I now have terrible insomnia. It’s sometimes five or six am before I drift off. I’ve tolerated fluids well & not a single episode of vomiting. My consultant has said mush after two week, did anyone try it sooner?

Thanks in advance

No, I was on liquids three weeks post-op before going to soft mushy foods.

I had my gastric bypass surgery on Jan 29th. I was told not to go to mush until 14 days after the date of release. So far chobani yogurt and maltomeal are what I can handle. I don't like broth or Soups so I don't know what to eat.

Good luck and God bless

I switched on day 8 to purée and then 5 days later to soft foods where I am now and will be for a month or so yet. But some soft foods are better than others and I am taking my time adding in different things.

I’m 12 days post op tomorrow. I’ve stuck to my liquids & I’ve decided that tomorrow will be my last liquid day...I’m feeling good & glad I remained longer on thick liquids.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
