Timing of shakes and water during the day

Recommended Posts

I had my nutrition classes and have the recommended daily total of fluids and Protein. I know it's initially sips to get it in and the goal of 64oz, 60g protein. So my question is did you use a shot glass for 1-2 oz and set a timer to make sure you drank that every hour? Did you use a phone app or timer? I do know aobut the calcium chews separate form the daily Vitamin. Do I not take the daily vitamin with a shake that's high in Calcium, Should I take that with Water? Any suggestions?

I had my surgery on 2/7/19. I am currently still on clear liquid diet. I set an alarm on my phone, that will repeat every 15 minutes continuously as long as I hit snooze and not dismiss. As for the amount, I bought some medicines cups that are 1 ounce (30ml) and every 15 minutes when my phone alarmed I would drink one. That way I would be getting my 4 oz in an hour.

I was sleeved on 2-6 and I’ve been able to get in 80oz/day fairly easy provided I set an alarm to wake up early (7am) and start.
It’s easier now to drink 2-4 ounces at a time. It hurts, but it has always hurt in the last week and at least now I can get in more volume with the same amount of pain.
What I can’t for the life of me do right now is coordinate Liquid Protein into my regimen.
It takes me almost an hour to choke down 4 ounces and then I’m stopped from drinking all during that time and before and after.

That being said, this is how I’m managing:
Wake at 7am, drink 1 liter of Water over 5 hours.
Choke down some kind of Protein from 12-1 pm.
From 1pm-6pm, consume another 1 liter water.
6-7 repeat with the protein
8pm-11pm, drink another 32 ounces (half liter) water.

Get up many times to pee in the night and start over again at 7 am slightly more sleep-deprived than the day before.

Hopefully my body allows me to “eat” more later

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
