Pre-Op Stage

Recommended Posts

So I started my preop diet today... never did I think my body could give me so much pain.. and those darn hunger cramps and headaches and I have to take supplements too. Any advice on getting through this stage.I find that I'm hungry every four hours and after taking my Calcium supplements the hunger gets worse. I am taking my daily intake of Water.

I'm on day 2 of pre-op, I know what your feeling all too well. The headaches are the worst. I just keep drinking more Water and carrot chips are my new best friend lol. We'll get thru it like many have before us and many will after! Positive thinking!

No not potato chips, carrot chips. Just raw carrots cut like chips lol. I can have raw raw and steamed vegetables and Protein shakes, and one "meal" a day.

My friend used the patch Vitamins during her pre op diet and until she was eating more at 2-3 months. She couldn’t stomach the pill/chewable vitamins will that little in her stomach.

I just started the pre op diet aswell and totally know the feeling you're going through. I just try and take it a day at a time and just figure it'll get better/easier as time goes on.

When I started my pre-op diet (back in Dec.), I drank a lot of Water also, that in itself helped my hunger pains. Ladies you both have this. The end is so worth it. Hang in there you've got this.👍👍👍

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
