dbbonoso 14 Posted February 12, 2019 Does anyone has had really really bad cramps after vsg? I'm going to be a month post op in a couple days and I am in SO MUCH PAIN, idk if it's the surgery or that I got an IUD not too long ago... BrighterSide 242 Posted February 12, 2019 You really need to call your surgeon and/or your doctor if the pain doesn't pass or if it comes with a temperature. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
Frmamomzeyez 76 Posted February 12, 2019 I’m gonna say it’s that IUD. Had mines for 7months before I got rid of it. Longer and heavier periods along with major crap. But to be safe I would speak with your doctor.

Started yesterday and the pain is more horrible for me bec I will be 1month post-op this Friday and I cant take the 500mg of Naproxen that would basically eliminate my cramps for most of the day. These darn cramps woke me up out of my sleep. I ate a little cream of wheat, took 2 Extra Strength Tylenol and laid on a heating pad. Its helped to take the edge off a little, but I still feel like crap. Tylenol wears off before you can take another dose. [emoji37]
dbbonoso 14 Posted February 12, 2019 They told me I wasn't allowed to take any Tylenol so I've been sucking it up [emoji123] lol but the pain is bad, on top of that I got my first dumping yesterday. So I didn't know if it was one or the other. Such a bad day Sent from my LM-V405 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 NewMeDay reacted to this
Makuahine 22 Posted February 12, 2019 I do! I was told it was normal for most woman after this surgery. It was a topic at my 3 month post op group appt. She joked and asked if any spouses or partners noticed worsen PMS! I have even more blood and found the overnight 10hour winged pads were perfect! I haven't taken any pain medication, I definitely need to find something!

They gave us prescription liquid Tyenol upon discharge, along with celebrex, but those were only a 5dy-1week supply. I was allowed to buy OTC liquid baby tylenol, but now i take the actual extra strength tylenal pills. We were told no NSAIDs at all though. I hate cramps with a passion, but im glad that i still have a period bec I dont have any children yet and im getting older. I have a small window of time to get preg naturally, which was another reason for getting sleeved bec i was jst too big for a safe pregnancy. So, im actually looking fwd to the 18mos post-op when I will be able to try to get pregnant [emoji144] [emoji120] 1 dbbonoso reacted to this
NYC_PAULA 194 Posted February 18, 2019 I know mine is heavier/crampier because I had to go off the pill a month before surgery and am not allowed to start again till I'm a month post op. My surgeon had me do this to decrease the risk of a blood clot. Once I'm back on the pill and my body has adjusted to it I imagine it will eventually become less intense again. 1 dbbonoso reacted to this
insta_adventurer 1,046 Posted February 18, 2019 I got an IUD about two months before surgery. My periods were longer and the cramps lasted for the entire period vs only the first two days pre-IUD. I’ve now had the IUD for about 9 months. My periods are still longer than they normally were (8-9 days now vs 5-6 before), but they are so incredibly light these days. 1 dbbonoso reacted to this

I was going to do that but my doctor said that because of the surgery the pills wouldn't be so effective and I'm not trying to be pregnant any time soon lol. So if I was you I would look into that. 🤷Sent from my LM-V405 using BariatricPal mobile app

kristen.bee 10 Posted February 19, 2019 Yep!! I'm 6-7 months post-op (I don't remember rn lmao) and my periods have been a lot more painful!! They usually last for less time tho?? I've always had like 3-4 days of actual bleeding, but cramping, craving, and mood swings that lasted a full 7 days, but on my latest period last week, I only bled for a day!! I couldn't leave the heating pad for a minute tho lmao it was soooo painful!!
