Rene' S 14 Posted February 10, 2019 Just curious, I have seen some periodic posts about people going from sleeve to full bypass. Anyone one know the main reasons? Complications? No weight loss with the sleeve? I'm converting from the lap band to sleeve. I'm hoping this is it for me, no more surgeries. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
elcee 3,341 Posted February 10, 2019 One of the main reasons is reflux. There is a high incidence of it with the sleeve, especially in revisions from band. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Ed_NW 684 Posted February 10, 2019 My surgeon tries hard to convince his patients to go directly with the gastric bypass because of it's long term success and proven history. It's been around longer than any other WLS procedure. That's what convinced me. I only wanted to do this once. The fact that people that never before had a problem with GERD started suffering with it after the sleeve and had to revise to RNY was another thing that helped me decide. I went back and forth for awhile because there does seem to be pros and cons with both surgeries. Good luck with your choice. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
