My biggest issues with losing weight is trying to get back on track , I’m 10 months in and I’ve completely got off track. It’s driving me insane and it has made me super depressed!

Sorry to hear you are going through this. Does your surgeon's clinic have a post op support program? If so, have you touched base with the dietician/nutritionist and/or the behavioural coach?

There is a thread here for those who are six months plus out from surgery perhaps touch base there, see if anyone had, or is currently going through, the same issue

There is also the VETS part of the forums where those less than two years out can ask questions of VETS there, same as above, there is likely someone who has faced what you are currently facing.

In the meantime, perhaps set yourself a calorie goal per day - about 1000 to 1200cals per day depending on your exercise levels...focus on Protein and low starch carbs , get some good fats. (You want to ask the more experienced what would be a good calorie allowance at this point in time, as they would have a better idea than myself, I would think some people are possible on 800cals to 1000cals at your post op time line).

Some people do a pouch reset to help get them back on track...if you are up to it, there are variations of it, but basically its back to basicis...maybe a day of Clear Liquids, two days of full liquids, one day pureed, one day soft.

Or you could go back to the pre-op diet....for a week.. three Protein Shakes per day plus one to two cups of low carb veges with one serve of solid protein.

Whatever you do, make a commitment to start....one day at a time.

Right now you may want to go clear out the pantry of anything that is going to derail you further, donate it to friends or a charity,

Does your surgeon's office offer monthly lectures and/or lifetime support? Mine does. That will hopefully keep me on track. Have you tried eating again like you did pre-op, restricted to liquids only or calorie-restricted for a while to jumpstart things again? Are you depressed? Good luck!

Good Luck on your Journey! Both responses cover everything i could possibly say.. The only thing i would add is if you had your surgery out of town.. check in with your local hospitals for a support group. I was lucky to find a very good one near where i live, when i had my surgery 3 hours away.. I now attend the support groups 2 WED a month. I really like it because each group is catered to the time frame of your surgery, and not like the other one i tried and it was not catered to my time but an overall meeting..

I hope you find some local support!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
