If you're going to do that, then go for a conversion to vsg or rny from band. Just my 2 cents. Welcome to the group!

That seems like quite a big procedure for potentially little benefit

Just trying to find out if it is done with local or general anesthesia. I have been banded since 2011 and it has worked and I have had no issues. Recently I had a rather large hernia repair in my diaphragm and the tube was most likely kinked or broken during this surgery. Since I have had success I would like to get the port tube repaired and that is why I just want to know is this done with a local and would like someone that has done this to let me know. Thanks.

Hi just had this done due to my tube being pulled apart during a previous surgery. Yes it’s general anesthesia and takes 1.5-2 hrs. Same day surgery. Best of luck to you.

Hello to the previous people who had tube /port repair or replacement, I am having my tube re-attached in 2 days time, 29/01/20. The damage was caused a couple of years ago after an accident, I am really looking forward to my band working properly again as I had very good success previously.
I have been lucky to find a surgeon in Perth (Australia) that will do the necessary surgery as unlike some things I have read on here, banding is no longer favourable here.
Fingers crossed and hopefully a new wardrobe of clothes in a few months.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
