Chris56 21 Posted February 6, 2019 I didn’t realize how much eating a meal was an activity. lunch with a friend. dinner out with the husband. Brunch with family. Even grocery shopping and cooking dinner. I still cook but it is different now. It’s just another chore. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted February 6, 2019 I'm not enjoying eating out much and prefer to eat at home now post-op. Even if we share a lunch, I can eat so very little food that I end up doing more sitting and watching my husband eat than eating myself and there are so many menu items that I can't have. Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted February 6, 2019 I still very much enjoy going out to eat. I ate primarily Soups from February-November and even then had a good time. That's how we usually socialize and I wouldn't want to give that up for anything. 2 FluffyChix and sillykitty reacted to this
Jazzy1125 1,010 Posted February 6, 2019 I love going out to eat. It isnt so much about the food as it is about spending time with family and friends and actually slowing down life a little instead of always being on the run. 3 Orchids&Dragons, Sophie7713 and FluffyChix reacted to this
seaforest 562 Posted February 6, 2019 I agree, it was an activity, a reason to spend time with people I care about. So, I still do it. The food part is a bit of a chore but the company is great. I find that I eat what I can and take home the rest and eat it over the next few days. Then I don't have to cook! But, I am mindful of what I eat and stick with the Protein first. I wish restaurants would cook their vegetables...the crunchy ones are too much trouble...never cared for the blanched/al dente version.
Avery's Mom 315 Posted February 11, 2019 I immediately put at least half of what I order in a to go box. stick to apps or Soups you can 'linger' over. it is about the fellowship of the meal to me and not the consumption of the food.
