How did you do pre-op with the liquid or pre-op diet? Are you nervous? Are you anxious? Surgery affects our emotions and hormones, so it could be stress-eating. Have you called your surgeon's office and talked to the nutritionist for advice? Good luck!

I was only required to do a one day pre op liquid diet. I didn’t have a two week one like most other people. I’m nervous now that I think I ruined my bypass due to over eating this early out. I’m 3 weeks today. I’m actually going on to see the nutritionist today but I’m so embarrassed to tell her. I feel like I’m addicted to food and it’s going to ruin the only thing that would help me.

I'm sure the nutritionist has heard it all before. I would come clean so you can get on the right path ASAP. You can't change yesterday but you can change today and tomorrow so just remember it was a lesson learned and now you are taking control of it.

Speak to the nutritionist and if you are truly concerned maybe seek out a therapist to help you get to the root cause so you can deal with what the triggers are and maybe get to recognize what those triggers are.. Good Luck to you.

Best things to do is do a clean out grab everything bad out of your house and put in the bin if you can't donate it.

Go to supermarket and go shopping only buying what the doctor ordered. Don't give in to anybody or any bad influences.

You need to be strict with yourself. This is your life. Your future. Nobody else can fix you but you.

Don't give up, but if I'm honest that one day diet was not a helpful thing I'm unsure why your doctor allowed that because the whole idea of the preop diet is to show you can make the right changes otherwise the surgery will not work for you.

Thanks for your tips. The only reason I was on a liquid diet one day is because my center encourages we lose weight before we start prepping for surgery. I lost ten pounds before and the one day liquid diet was to ensure my system is cleaned out before they operated.

What did you eat? Did it make you feel sick? I find getting sick a really great incentive to try and stay on track!

To be honest I wish I would’ve gotten sick. I didn’t dump at all. I felt brief discomfort in my stomach and it went away really quickly :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
