Lost&Found 6 Posted February 3, 2019 This is my first post here, and I'll start by saying that this post in no way is intended to be attention-seeking or anything of the like, but is rather coming from a place of concern. I had surgery on January 9th of this year, and only had minimal upper torso gas pains for a few days that eventually subsided. I felt virtually back to normal by day 3 post-op. I've stuck to everything my nutritionist/doctor have told me to do. At my 5 day post-op follow up I had lost 20.2 pounds. This far exceeded the amount that I or my family thought. I was pleasantly surprised, but that also seemed like a high number. My doctor told me not to worry, and that men typically lose weight faster and that my body is responding the appropriate way. A few days later I noticed I hadn't lost any weight, and had actually gained a couple pounds. I started my work out plan the day after surgery so I was a bit discouraged by this; I chalked it up to my body sort of 'righting the ship' so to speak, and finally on the 4th day, I started losing weight again. This brings me to my current state. I am down a total of 42 pounds since January 9th (6 days shy of a month), and I'm concerned that this is way too fast. Luckily, I have a football build and I think there's be minimum long-term skin issues, aside from my lower stomach. Is there anyone else out there that last weight too quickly (and is this actually a thing?) 2 1 ProudGrammy, Liz The New Me and Frustr8 reacted to this

You can call him with any concerns. He can diagnose if anything is wrong. . Your sleeve restriction will become less over time. you will be able to consume more calories and the weight loss is slower. 3 ProudGrammy, Orchids&Dragons and sillykitty reacted to this
Liz The New Me 281 Posted February 9, 2019 From what I read on this site the more you have to loose the faster it comes off the first couple of months Then the closer you get to your body's ideal weight the slower the weight loss becomes, and the harder to loose it. You really have to find how to jump start it by your food and exercise routine. Well that's what I'm telling myself. BarrySue 602 Posted February 9, 2019 Water-weight fluctuates wildly, and the scale is not a good indicator of the complex changes taking place on a metabolic and physical level in your body. Yes, you will lose weight because your muscle mass as a man allows for more rapid energy consumption. Yes, there will be peaks and valleys where you lose huge amounts, and lose nothing. It is fine, it is normal, and unless you are experiencing debilitating symptoms or your doctor is concerned, trust the process. Our bodies aren't typically the problem. Our lack of knowledge in regard to how weight loss and our anatomy actually work are typically the problem, because we have fundamental misunderstandings about how everything works. 1 NewMeDay reacted to this
Cynisca 67 Posted February 10, 2019 I wouldn't worry. There are too many factors to look at and I'm sure your doctor is on them and knows them. I am at the high end of the weight loss scale (meaning losing quicker) and my doctors attribute it to being very athletic previously, my body is reacting well to the changes and as long as my blood tests come back excellent they aren't concerned. 1 Liz The New Me reacted to this
Unstuck 16 Posted February 10, 2019 I was like that early on. For about 2 weeks, I was losing more than a pound a day. My family was alarmed but i felt good. Then I leveled off and didn't lose much of anything for several weeks. It started up again and seems to be averaging about 3 pounds a week. i surpassed 50 pounds at about 7 weeks even with the stall It goes faster for men. Especially bigger guys. Eventually, it will slow down. Meanwhile, as long as you feel good and your Dr isn't worried, enjoy the honeymoon. 1 Liz The New Me reacted to this
