mayglow2007 6 Posted February 3, 2019 (edited) I am 3 days out from gastric sleeve. I am getting depressed. Feeling like I will never feel normal again. One of my incisions feels like it’s on fire. It’s really the only one that is hurting. But my chest feels like I swallowed a ball. I can’t drink a lot because it just sits there and almost feels like it wants to come back up. Just make sure you're drinking very slow (sips) when you take in your fluids. Not sure about the incisions but just make sure you're taking your pain medications. Good luck with your journey and I hope you feel better. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
mayglow2007 6 Posted February 3, 2019 Thank you so much! That’s what’s starting to worry me. I can barely drink, I feel like there is a ball in the bottom of my chest right on top of my stomach.
NIKKIBEVERLY 57 Posted February 4, 2019 Thank you so much! That’s what’s starting to worry me. I can barely drink, I feel like there is a ball in the bottom of my chest right on top of my stomach. You have to remember, everything is still swollen. Just drink as much as you can and try not to get dehydrated. I heard that feeling is much worseSent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
slummus241 8 Posted February 4, 2019 I’m 10 day’s out from sleeve surgery...I think I know what you mean by the “ball”...I seem to have that too...when I get it I take even smaller sips and wait between each one...it’s tedious but it helps.
mayglow2007 6 Posted February 4, 2019 Yes! It’s horrible. That’s what’s stopping me from getting my Fluid down, because it’s such an uncomfortable feeling. It hurts.

mayglow2007 6 Posted February 4, 2019 What is that? I was only prescribed Percocet for pain and Zophran for nausea.
chrissymcm08 10 Posted February 4, 2019 The first couple of weeks are rough but soon you will feel normal and begin to eat normally again. Best advice that I can give anyone is do not rush! Just take baby steps. You will get back to normal soon enough.Sent from my LG-LS777 using BariatricPal mobile app
Sheribear68 3,201 Posted February 8, 2019 I’m also struggling with the “ball” sensation. Not quite 2’ days out and while I managed to drink my mandatory 2 liters within 24 hours, every single sip hurt. So since today was my first day back home, I’m finding it impossible to get all of my Water in and also Protein. I managed to eat 5 spoonfuls of the bariatric oatmeal (in 2 separate sittings) This worries me as I’m supposed to have 3 Proteins day. Right now though I’m focusing more on water than anything else
mayglow2007 6 Posted February 8, 2019 It made one week today and I can thankfully say I am feeling so good! The ball sensation went away around the 5th day. I was barely getting anything down when I came home. My family was afraid I was going to dehydrate. It was just so hard and with the feeling in my chest it just felt like everything I swallowed just sat there, but hopefully you feel better soon! One week today....16.4 pounds gone! 3 minutes ago, sheridreisker said: I’m also struggling with the “ball” sensation.
