Getting cold feet, normal?

Recommended Posts

Well, I finished all my requirements in December, got approved in January but couldn't schedule my surgery until March 27th because I am moving to a new house, and it's just too much. Now I've got this time on my hands and have lost motivation to watch what I eat, and I'm nervous about this massive life change that's before me!!

Any words of encouragement?

Thanks, Sarah aka Briswife15

Like my friend The Marine says, do list the reasons you are getting it, the things barred by weight you will now be able to do, and then be grateful you are getting the chance to make it better, surgeons do refuse to do some peo0ke

This time delay will give you a chance to work on eating now like you'll be eating after surgery and prepare your body for it. Nothing's changed, you still have a list of reasons as to why you want to have this surgery, right? You can do it!

Just remember why you want it in the first place. Start making changes now if possible because later you will not have a choice, The more weight you can take off now, the more of a head start you will have later. I know we want to eat everything under the sun because we feel like we will never be able to eat that stuff again, but that is simply not true. Yes your taste buds will change and there will be some foods you cannot tolerate, but you can actually eat those foods in moderation as time goes on. The only true food funeral i had was post surgery when i realized after 3 tries my stomach could not tolerate chicken anymore.. Hopefully that changes as i am still new to the Bariatric world! I was literally almost in tears lol because i couldnt eat chicken! We are going to try one more time today.. but a ground form in my enchiladas i am making.. if today doesnt work.. then i will give up trying for a while.

Hi, to you all! Thanks for your advice and words of wisdom! I think I need to get my mindset back on track instead of having perpetual food funerals! I should also go to one of ny group's support groups to remotivate myself. Glad this forum is here!!

I think it is very normal. At some point, you have to relinquish control (or lack thereof) and let the Good Lord (Or surgeon, if you will) take the wheel for you. Yeah, it's scary - and there are tons of opinions out there. I was asking lots of questions before I pulled the trigger.

Motivation? Watch "My 600# life". That worked for me.

Can I eat the yummy foods I used to? Maybe. Have I tried? Nope. Why? Well, I won't be the first to say this, but my body literally doesn't crave them (* most of the time). I've lost 100# in 7 months, lost 10 inches off my waist, I can walk up steps to my office, and I can work on my car without feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack. Also, I can fit in amusement park rides now, something I couldn't do before.

Just keep in mind why you decided to go through this life change in the beginning. Most importantly make sure that it's something YOU want and not something someone else is pressuring you to do. A lot of people thought having the surgery was my boyfriend's idea until he came out and said he didn't even want me to have it. I decided to have it because I want to have kids in the next few years but I also want to be living a healthier lifestyle I can then move to them.

i was always worried about regretting it and saying it wasnt for me, i can do other things all the way up until i was laying in that hospital bed with an IV in my arm. I got the surgery and i think its worth it. I feel its natural to be worried, its a huge life change. Im still on my shakes for post op, the pain is a fading, and so far i would do it over again just because i am no longer having massive reflux anymore. The weight loss is great, im not hungry all the time, reflux is completely gone, it is a good thing

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
