I have been on my all liquids preop diet since Wednesday and I've been tracking all of my intake on Baritastic ( an app suggested to use by my nutritionist) I have been crushing my Protein goals (70grams a day) and staying below my sugar/carb/ fat intake. My Water intake has been great as usual. I have been hitting between the 700-800 calorie mark each day (normal as I'm told) but I have been struggling with a vertigo feeling today. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this and if so what helped or did it continue. I see my surgeon on Monday but I wanted to pick someone's brain.

I felt woozy for part of the time. I was on my preop diet. They told me I could have some extra Protein but it didn’t make a difference. I kept feeling weak after surgery until I got my calories up to about 500 per day. I hope your vertigo passes more quickly.

I put a cap of hydrogen peroxide in each ear and drain well. Vertigo gone. It cleans your ears out pretty good too.

Is the vertigo with position changes? Like turning your head or turning over in bed?

That may be low blood sugar. I had a few episodes in the beginning of my pre op diet. Do you take BP meds? If so start watching you blood pressure. It may be dropping low. I’m assuming you aren’t diabetic because the surgeon would have put you on a modified diet.

It's mostly because your caloric levels tanked out. Most of us Americans eat 22,25 or 3000 calories, then you cut back to 600-800 a day and your poor body says" WTF are You doing to Me?" so dizziness is its way of revenge, move slower, plan your next move, not a good time to go blithering along!.Every movement has good and bad facets for IT!!
