Also, today is the first day that I am left alone up to my own devices, I am praying that I will not fall pray to my old habits. I am afraid to fail. :help:

Putty~you are worth this, and you can do it! Take a deep breath, it is normal to have that fear of failing, but you won't. You have put a lot of thought and effort into getting banded and now you are on the path to a new life...a life that you deserve!! Stay strong and heal well.

Try not to put too much pressure on yourself. Remember the first 6 weeks are about healing not weight loss. It is not uncommon not to lose much at first. I really didn't lose much the first three months while they were adjusting my band but once they hit my sweet spot the weight is really coming off.

Putty - my social worker said that nearly everybody goes through that right after their surgery - wondering what the heck they just did to themselves. She repeated this again and again and again - it's normal. She said a lot of people further on down the road in this journey may not talk about it much, because they have forgotten that it happened to them. Before you know it, you'll be loving the banded life as your size shrinks! I'm preparing myself for the second thoughts, so I know where you're coming from. You are strong! You can do this!

Lots of people have the "OMG what have I done??!!" panic hit them! You are not alone! You have the surgery behind you, and success in front of you, you just have to work the middle now!

As long as you stay aware that you can and will fall into old habits unless you pay attention, you can stay on top of it. Many of us have had times where we fell off the wagon over something, the key is to get up and go again. It is so much easier to do with the band!

Right now you are healing and it is of utmost importance to heed your Dr.'s advice and allow you body to heal. Follow the eating plan (more of a drinking plan at this stage), and take care that you heal well.

When you feel the urges, either log on here, take a walk, pick up your knitting, something---anything---to just get past the craving.

When you are healed and ready to begin the fill process, you will find avoiding the food demons easier. Each stage has its highs and lows---but Putty, they are sooooo worth it! YOU are worth it! Your future is worth the work!

When you need motivation, go over and look through the Before and After Picture Thread. Find someone who has stats similar to yours and see what you can accomplish. This is possible, others have done it before us, and we can do it too!!

Hang in there, your emotions are very normal, following most surgeries!

Welcome to bandland, and welcome to LBT- hang out, you are not alone!

Kat

I had second thoughts after surgery, too. That went away fast, though! I started losing a lot of weight, my health came back and I started to really look good. NO REGRETS!!!!!!!! I have a new life! It is worth it! Things will get better, I promise!

Best of luck to ya!

I had surgery 10/11 and I thought the same thing. Did I really have to do all this to get healthy? Even right before surgery, I doubted a little - not enough not to get the surgery though. After surgery too, you are not all back together with anesthesia and discomfort, plus you're alone today with no medical or personal assistance - so you're scared and it is completely normal. Once you get on the scale in a week and see just what you can do in one week and start feeling like your old self you'll be thrilled. It won't be about surgery any more. It's done and over with, now this time is about healing and then it will be time for you to learn how to eat right and get healthy with the aid of the band. You are not alone, we probably all had some kind of doubt or question. Take the time now to get back on your feet and see what waits ahead for you - good health and a new, improved life. You did the right thing. Good luck.

Hang in there Putty - I haven't been banded yet but I think if I were feeling what you are I would try to have a friend or family member join me so I'm not alone with my thoughts!

Good luck!

I am so glad to hear everyone has had doubts. I am 3 weeks away from surgery and I have felt really positive about my decision up until the last two days. I don't know what's come over me. I too, am afraid to fail at my second chance. Now I feel a little better and feel confident that the doubts will pass.

Thank you all.

Putty,

You did it! I can't wait until it is behind me. My Surgery is Nov. 16th. But I hadn't thought that I could have axiousness right after the surgery. I'm glad you brought it up. Now I'll be prepared for these feelings should they arise. As far as doubts, every other day I question myself as to whether I should do this. Then I remind myself of the alternative. Stay heavy and keep getting heavier and keep having health problems. And besides that, all the messages I've read reinforce that they love the band and would not go back. We do have to do our part with this tool, but it will be so much easier to do with the band. I assume surgery went well and your doing fine otherwise? Just start healing and keep getting the support you need from this site. I look forward to hear how you're doing.

I'm so glad to see this thread. I was banded a week ago and feel frustrated. I'm tired, gassy and have not lost one pound since surgery. My logical thinking, and my sister, are telling me that my body needs to heal and the weight will start coming off when I am healed and can start walking/exercise. My idealistic (and warped) thinking is saying "Girl, you just spent a boat load of money, why haven't you lost any weight yet. What's wrong with you? Dumb, I know, but true. I know the second thoughts and doubts will go when I start to feel a little better and can see results. I know I'll be successful, I just need to be patient.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
