I’m looking forward to the surgery many people say it was the best decision for them

I was sleeved July 10th and have lost about 60 pounds. Started having dizzy spells about a month after surgery so my doc cut my blood pressure med in half since my blood pressures were normalizing. Cpap stopped almost immediately after surgery. No longer snore and sleep through the night. Having a sleep study in a another month or so to confirm that I am free of the cpap for good.

I was excited with the thought of coming off of my BP meds afterVSG... turns out my cardiologist says that will never happen :( I had open heart quadruple coronary bypass 1 year before VSG, and I'm on a low dose beta blocker 3x a day on gym days to keep my heart rate and BP low.... 2x a day on non gym days. A little bummed about that, but getting heart healthy was my main reason for getting VSG since genetically my stomach was producing 10x the amount of hormones that were making my cholesterol, trygliceides and A1C dangerously high...I was another heart attack and bypass surgery waiting to happen..I was told When, not if , I would have a heart attack, and if I survive, I'd be looking at more open heart surgery!! ! That was scary to hear! I had to do what ever it takes! Even though pre-op I ate healthy, went to the gym 5 days a week, took my meds.... all of my levels continued to rise drastically! My HW/pre surgery weight was 188, I didn't have to do a pre-op diet or classes,,, I'm 142 lbs now. from first consult to surgery was only 2 weeks, because of how at risk my heart was. In the grand scheme of things... I'm ok staying on 3 pills a day ( I was taking 16 rx pills a day pre-op) and now all of my blood levels are perfect! They were perfect at 2 mo. Post op ( I'm 4 1/4 post op now) success in my book, even with the BP meds 🤗..., I had heart surgery for my 49th BD, VSG 8 days before my 50th!!

Wondering if many still use their CPAP Machine and take Blood Pressure Meds after surgery? Did your surgeon advise you to still use medicine after surgery and did they have you to get another sleep study done. If the surgery is a success I would think that these things are no longer in use.

My doc had me cut my BP meds in half right a way, at my 3 month checkup she stopped them all together. I no longer need them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
