Itching is probably a good sign as it means that everything is healing but it's so bad its going to drive me insane. It's not the scars it's the entire stomach. It is like every nerve ending has decided it's going to do some kind of crazy celebratory dance. Typically it is worse at night when I am trying to sleep.

Any tips to calm the itching and stop me trying to scratch?

Hydrocortisone, oatmeal in your bathwater, no don't dump it in, make a big bag/sachet, whatever the righ term is out of 2 washcloths with oatmeal inside, take a cool bath or 🚿. It probably is a mild? reaction the anesthesia you had for your surgery, more common than you would think.

I had to get a prescription bc it turned out I was allergic to the adhesive on the suture glue. It was horrible!!

That would not have been fun.

Mine is not itching at the wound sites, it’s more allover the stomach . It’s probably caused by all the stretching and bruising and everything else.

I had same thing, the Benadryl ointment helped, I had to do the levanox shots for ten days, it seemed to go away once I stopped the shots. I’m thinking that caused it for me, it was like I had hives, same with me it wasn’t the incisions, was my entire stomach, it drove me crazy

I got home from the hospital and had red scratches all over my stomach..like an animal had clawed me. I was horrified! Turns out that it was a reaction to the pain meds they gave me in the hospital and after. Once I warned myself off the prescription meds the itching stopped.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
