KCgirl061 1,533 Posted January 29, 2019 Six months post-op and my hunger is back. With a freaking vengeance. Maybe its because I've had a couple days off but I can't seem to get it under control. But all I can think about is the food over in my kitchen. I dunno. Even when I'm physically full I'm still craving something - a salty crunch or sweet chew. I'm going crazy! I miss the absence of hunger! It was so nice. I'm so sad. 1 1 2 Alpaca55, ProudGrammy, FluffyChix and 1 other reacted to this
Jazzy1125 1,010 Posted January 29, 2019 That may be head hunger you are dealing with.. Try doing some activities instead of staying at home so you are not tempted by the kitchen. 3 GreenTealael, FluffyChix and ProudGrammy reacted to this

I'm bundled up with a stocking cap and space heater on! I think I'm going to grab a favorite book or perhaps work on a puzzle. 2 FluffyChix and ProudGrammy reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted January 29, 2019 I think The 👺GHRELIN MONSTER looks somewhat like this👺, he's evil , lurking out there somewhere. plotting to attack me, bring me to my knees or even worse the Cake, Pie and Snacky Foods table at the Next Potluck dinner I attend. Like KCgirl I once was HIS and I'm sure he wants me back in his clutches. My own defense may be Precious Pouch that won't let me even EAT food that is GOOD for ME! She might be the only one to tackle him, won't be a fair fight but GHRELIN MONSTER never played fair before. This might be interesting! 1 newlifeat41 reacted to this

Drink some hot Decaf with some Protein Shake in it and you will be satisfied and busy! 2 ProudGrammy and FluffyChix reacted to this
Kris77 1,539 Posted January 29, 2019 I’ve just recently started to feel the “hunger” coming bk. Scares me too. Also recently cut out snacking (even though the Snacks were protein) so I’m not sure if the “hunger “ is from that or not. I don’t have a true stomach growl or anything...just the feeling of wanting to eat more now that I haven’t had since my surgery. Sucks. 1 FluffyChix reacted to this

I've always just made sensible choices with 3 meals and 2 Snacks. But now that I have the urge to snack like 5 times a day I really feel thats the best way to keep myself in check. I hate tracking food by the way. Hate it. Its measuring and calculating and just.... MATH. EGHHHH. 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
domi 237 Posted January 29, 2019 I feel the same. I'm trying to concentrate on drinking my Water first like I did in the beginning. If i really feel hungry, I drink some chicken broth. I worked too hard to let this voice in my head (or my loud stomach) control me. One day at a time, 1 meal at a time, 1 bite at a time. 2 FluffyChix and Kris77 reacted to this
Lolo 2020 236 Posted January 30, 2019 (edited) Omg I am 6!weeks from surgery and just discovered I can eat chocolate and don’t self destruct . Very bad . I throw Up if I take too big of a bite of tuna salad but I can eat a bite of snickers bar and no bad outcome ? WTF? So armed with this knowledge I have to redouble my resolve to track my food and Protein and stay away from bad stuff 😫 Edited January 30, 2019 by Lolo 2020
Kris77 1,539 Posted January 30, 2019 I heard your taste buds change after surgery. So I can’t eat my favorite fish of all time-salmon. Smells terrible and tastes terrible to me now. Of course my sweet tooth is still there. Why couldn’t it have been my sweet tooth that changed. Not my love of salmon!!😩 1 LoveFood reacted to this
YeahOkay31 651 Posted January 30, 2019 (edited) I am 9 months out and my hunger/cravings have been coming back slowly since about 7 months. I remember being unsettled and blue that food just did not appeal to me anymore. Now I would love that feeling back. Point of the story is this, you got a limited amount of time to correct your brain and habits before the ghrelin grace period ends, then you fly solo. I fail daily, but it's measured failure. I am usually an angel during the day than shove 5 Hershey kisses in my mouth right before bed. Best advice I can give is coffee--non Decaf if your stomach can handle it. It really does kill the hunger. Also for the salty cravings get yourself a steam bag of frozen edamame with sea salt and pepper. Filling and tasty with Protein and Fiber. Stay warm and good luck! 🍀 Edited January 30, 2019 by YeahOkay31 3 FluffyChix, Kris77 and domi reacted to this
Kris77 1,539 Posted January 30, 2019 @yeahok31 That’s a good idea. Night time is my toughest part of the day to not give in to snacking while watching a tv show. 1 YeahOkay31 reacted to this
