I just had the SADi and since I had the gastric sleeve years ago I don’t know what meal plan I should follow. I was the first patient to have this done at Kaiser in LA. And they have instructions for people that have the original procedure 😕

Well the SADI forum isn't as large as RnY and Sleeve but I'm sure someone will weigh in soon. May be from overseas , SADI seems to be more popular there!

Eliana85 go to VirtuaBariatrics@ Virtua, com, they do SADI and you should reach a NurseNavigator there, bet she can hook you up with the right diet. Also go back to the DS forum and try to reach some of those people, yours is a variety basically of their surgery. And Good Luck now and in the Future.

What is SADi?

Don't have one but I know- Single Anastomosis Duodenal-Ileal switch, all but 10 feet of small intestine get rerouted but your pylorus( the valve at the bottom of the stomach ) is spared and functional. Adherents say it is better than RnY or sleeve, you have pretty quick weight loss but can eat most all foods or so I have been told. Don't do as many in the U.S. as overseas. There is a forum for DS on Bariatric Pal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
