duhniece 10 Posted January 27, 2019 It sounds so silly to me that before my surgery, I would constantly be eating and now, I struggle to even drink my Water. Which I know is so unhealthy for my body. I was wondering if any of you guys struggle/struggled with this? I'm so beyond not hungry that I can go the whole day and not have anything. I know setting alarms help, but truth is, it's on my mind to consume things I just don't really want to since I'm not hungry. I am slowly doing better but I wanted to reach out to you guys because well, I don't feel so alone with you guys! I had my surgery Jan 15,2019 and I'm almost 2 weeks post op and about to start the puree stage. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
WLH 45 Posted January 27, 2019 Maybe the puree stage will trigger some hunger? I haven't had my surgery yet, but I'm scared I'll be the opposite. From what I've read here, your Water and Protein is most important, and it takes some time to 'normalize' after surgery. 1 duhniece reacted to this
GradyCat 3,696 Posted January 27, 2019 Your hunger will come back. I eat every 3 hours, but of course very little. I'm 7 weeks post-op and it started getting tedious to "eat" during the liquid stage, but once you get to soft foods stage it opens up a little and you'll want some texture and to try new things and it's all just the process of your stomach still healing. It gets back to normal, but without excessive hunger that causes you to overeat.
Jazzy1125 1,010 Posted January 27, 2019 (edited) I am almost 3 months post op and still struggle to get all my Water and Protein in. There are some days i dont make it.. but most days i do. I too am never hungry but my tool is starting to send me its time to eat signals. I am starting to get the hiccups if i go to long without eating as well. I do get 3 meals in a day.. though they are quite small. Most days i get in the 64 ounces, but have missed a day here and there. I have to use timers and eat on a schedule. If i do not.. i get way off track and it is hard to get back on schedule. Edited January 27, 2019 by Jazzy1125 1 duhniece reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,443 Posted January 27, 2019 You can try to just go with the flow, make it routine, food will just be fuel for you. CONGRATS on the great escape 🎈 2 duhniece and sillykitty reacted to this

(did you ever think you would say I don't want to eat?) It's pretty normal to struggle to get your Protein and hydration gaol at first. Keep trying to hit it to stay healthy. Your sleeve surgery restriction is still tight. First months will be your best weight loss. The restriction will become less over time. Be prepared for less sleeve restriction. It's strange when you experience this for yourself. Know that it's also normal. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
elcee 3,342 Posted January 27, 2019 I’m not hungry either but I know that I have to eat. Getting in the required amount of Protein is going to ensure good healing. If I don’t get in my required foods I feel horribly weak and shaky. Do what you have to do. Set that alarm and get that food in 2 Frustr8 and duhniece reacted to this
sillykitty 10,780 Posted January 28, 2019 I had no physical hunger for quite some time post WLS. I still usually have decreased hunger. At this point, just focus on the basics. Meeting your Protein goal just takes two Protein Shakes a day. I found that do-able most days. If I didn't manage one day, I didn't sweat it. Just make it all about protein, fluids, and supplements, those are the most important. 1 duhniece reacted to this

It was when I really was able to eat foods that my body was like YES QUEEN. I think it was just so tired of the liquid diet. Once it was all said and done I had been on the liquid diet for a total of a month (2 weeks before, 2 weeks after) so I think I was just over it. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
duhniece 10 Posted January 30, 2019 Thank you guys! Right now I'm 2 weeks post op and I feel nauseous just at the site/smell of food. Also just started my puree stage so hopefully that will help. Thank you guys, I appreciate your comments.
