a thought for you ; let go of the old ME to be what I was born to Be. Remember if you keep your head filled with fears , it will crowd out all the dreams you now have, Let your dreams come true for you have worked so hard to get here. Smile now, believe in YOURSELF, and know that you will do just fine, Mary you have almost made it now, a week of sleep and it will be time. And there will be a future of Happy ahead, it's yours for the taking so reach out on your merry go round ride, and that is life.
Yes you are right thank you how long has it been from yours

5 months on the 5th of February and I'll never regret it, no matter the bumps in my journey. Life still better than it was before September 5th, 2018 my Wonder Wednesday, my Surgical re-born. Thank you Dr Needleman for believing in me, now it is up to me. to use everything I have to win the Weight Wars, and I am proud of ME already as I meet each challenge along the way.

I was also nervous, knowing I'd never be able to eat the same again terrified me. So I just ate like a queen on the lead up to my pre op diet (best thing I ever did!). Then after I woke up from the surgery that was it, my life had changed, and to start yes it was a little difficult to adjust to, but after a while you just get used to it and its just normal life. Having a sleeve was the BEST decision I have ever and will ever make. It's changed my life in so many positive ways, I am so grateful to have had this amazing life changing surgery and I don't regret it for one second.

Read up on things! It helps being able to anticipate things. Coming to a place like this before is a great start. :)

As far as the surgery went, it was honestly not as bad as I had anticipated. There was some obvious soreness, but it was a lot more tolerable than I had expected, and keeping down fluids was much easier than I thought it would be while in the hospital. My husband had issues with gas pain when he had his, I personally did not. (Honestly, his recovery has been a little bit harder than mine, but I think it might be because they had to repair a hernia for him. I'm not fully sure if that impacts anything?)

Listen to you body, it will let you know when someone does not agree with it, or if it has had enough. I personally struggle at times to listen to myself, and I end up paying for it.

It truly is not has bad of an experience as you would think, just make sure you are keeping a strong willpower. After a while, when you start to feel fine, you might want to go back to old habits (I personally struggle with this), but just remind yourself you did this for a reason.

You are going to do great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
