How long for energy to return after surgery?

Recommended Posts

How long did it take, after VSG, to return to pre-op energy levels and mental clarity? I am planning on returning to work 4 weeks after surgery. My job is fast passed and I must be able to keep up mentally as much as physically.

I was good at a desk job about 3 weeks after surgery. Thinking was fine. For 100% of my energy to return, it took almost 2 months.

100% of energy was almost 2 months for me as well. The first 6 weeks, i was fine mentally after the first week, but my body just wanted to sit and not do much anywhere. I walked some, but it was a good 6 weeks before i had the energy to do anything outside of work on a regular basis. I am now almost 3 months and have a super amount of energy.

We are all different, we react differently to our challenges, it does not benefit to copy from another as we each have our own list of 📝 20 questions to fulfill . And each of us will win our own final victory 📦and that makes it even sweeter to consider.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
