My band slipped and in pain

Recommended Posts

My lap band slipped which put me into the ER and now am waiting for appt to get it removed. I am on a liquid diet and am in pain where the port is plus lower back pain. I don’t think I will get anything else to replace it. I am going to use hard work to finish losing my weight. I feel like such a loser. Has anyone out there gone through this. How much pain will I feel after it’s removed?

I'm sorry this is happening to you! How awful.

When my band slipped, the only symptom was GERD and esophagitis.

When I had my band out, I also chose not to revise. So, the surgery was pretty easy. Not much pain. I had a brief progression from liquids to solid foods, but much shorter than with the original surgery/weight loss process. I immediately felt better and aside from your normal post-surgical issues like a little gas and the incisions, it was a breeze.

Good luck!

I appreciate the support. This has been not fun for sure. Hopefully I will get it out soon and begin to feel better.

Just an update for all of you

So I was supposed to get my band removed on Feb. 11th but I got really sick with an ear infection and bronchitis plus we got hit hard here in Wa with snow. I am now waiting to call the NW weight loss to reschedule. I am starting to get new pain so know it has to come out. Anyways just wanted to let you all know. Support and comfort is still appreciated. I need it really bad.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
