I’m going back to work Tuesday exactly 2 weeks 8/5 M-F and my second job I go back in my 3rd week 6-12 pm M-W-F. I was curious on how you guys managed I know feeling low on energy is one of the biggest things and also feeling sleepy. What do you drink or take to help you.

Good luck going back to work and congrats on your surgery. I am retired, so going back to work wasn't an issue for me. I also had sleeve and not bypass, but I will say that I felt fully recovered and fully of energy at 2 weeks and was going to the gym. As long as I am getting my Protein in, I have energy. I hope that helps.

I’m a week out of surgery and still feel like I have been hit by a bus . Zero energy, walking from the kitchen to the bedroom leaves me wiped out. I’m lucky as I don’t have kids at home to look after. and I don’t work. I think it would be a struggle to go back to work for quite a while postop

I am not going to lie--going back to work sucked, particularly that first week. I would suggest taking it easy and asking for reduced hours for that week (assuming you're not paid by the hour and can afford the reduction in time). Your energy will improve though. I started to get back to full speed at around one month post-op. It helps if you can get more calories in, stay hydrated and meet your Protein goals. Don't mess around with energy drinks--you'll screw up your weight loss with those and you should stay away from caffeine for the first month (or just consume it with lots of moderation if your doctor is ok with caffeine).

I take Vitamin b drops once a week. I definitely feel a difference. There were a few times I got vitamin b shots at weight loss clinics and I never felt a thing with them. But the drops I forget about until around a week later when I feel overly tired then I take another dropperful. Idk if they are good or safe in the long run but i plan on asking the doctor next week.

This replenished my energy. I thought that I wouldn’t be able to do anything with just the regular Protein Shakes from ensure. I had my surgery on Thursday, February 7th and I feel normal now.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
