Jazzy1125 1,010 Posted January 22, 2019 i do not. I have heard if you are not careful you can land in the hospital. The smallest amount can have grave effects on us as it goes directly into the blood stream. 1 quana711 reacted to this
Lolo 2020 236 Posted January 22, 2019 Nope no alcohol . They say I can drink after a year . A friend of mine had vodka on the rocks after 3 months . Why wouldn’t have alcohol in my view if u r trying to lose weight 1 quana711 reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted January 22, 2019 No, I don't drink alcohol, but I didn't before getting the sleeve either. 2 quana711 and Ruby Hernandez reacted to this
lzucks 232 Posted January 22, 2019 I’m waiting till I hit goal to incorporate a glass of wine here and there. I do miss it. 5 months since I was sleeved. 1 quana711 reacted to this
rs 1,473 Posted January 22, 2019 Yes I started having cocktails again about 1 month post surgery. No issues. Was told that with the weight loss I would feel the effects of alcohol faster. I haven't found that to be the case. Since my stomach can't handle as much liquid I now order doubles. 3 2 Neversaynever, Frustr8, quana711 and 2 others reacted to this
LizzieM788 2 Posted January 22, 2019 Hi all, I am 10 days post op now and have and event in a few weeks where I would like to be able to have a few spaced out drinks. What is best to have? I have already been told to avoid anything fizzy. 2 Frustr8 and quana711 reacted to this

seaforest 562 Posted January 22, 2019 I was told to avoid alcohol for a year. Also, if you haven't already been warned everyone should've been. We are at higher risk of becoming alcoholics after surgery than before and I have seen it where I work. It's one reason I didn't immediately choose to have the surgery. I've seen several persons with this problem at my place of employment. So, be careful and follow your medical team's advice. 1 quana711 reacted to this
FancyChristine15 810 Posted January 22, 2019 I don't drink often, but when I do, it's hard liquor. Honestly, there are just fewer calories and carbs than in wine. I usually do vodka and Water and I add Mio flavoring to it; it's yummy! 5 Hopeful_GS, Rachel950008, rs and 2 others reacted to this

It is processed through our stomach and intestines, not straight to the blood stream. IME, alcohol does now affect me more, but I attribute it to being nearly half my previous weight, and not being able to pad my stomach with food before/while I drink. I drank very rarely during most of my weight loss phase. I was working hard to get to goal, and didn't want to add additional empty calories. 4 Wanda247, SeattleLady, SteveT74 and 1 other reacted to this
Hopeful_GS 13 Posted January 23, 2019 I've had a glass of wine at a happy hour or at dinner with friends. I'm a fan of chilled white wine, sav. blanc or pinot gr. Nothing sweet but I think that's personal preference. The red doesn't settle well in my stomach, feels too heavy and thick for some reason. I would totally do vodka, if I like it- but I don't so my options are pretty limited. I tried a glass of champagne on new years, the first carbonated drink I've had since my surgery (this past March) and it did not go well. I'll spare you the details but no, absolutely not- never again. lol 1 quana711 reacted to this
looly 361 Posted January 23, 2019 Am I the only sleever who gets on well with bubbles? They don't really bother me at all (although I choose not to drink fizzy pop now, because of the calories). I've cut wine out on an every day basis, but if it's a special occasion, I'll have some Prosecco or a nice red.
