I am pre-op, and I live in Carson City. I honeslty do not have extra time on my hands (4 kids, f/t job, Husband, 2 dogs, and POP Warner, baseball basketball mom, WHEW), can this be done via this board?

I'm in Reno. I attended a support group meeting at Washoe Medical South Meadows. Most of the people there were lap band or prospective lap band candidates. They're going to hold these meetings the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. I going to keep going but it would be more fun to have a smaller group. There were about 35 people there (smaller than the ones held at Washoe Medical proper).

Also, I got a call today from WSG that my surgery was approved by my insurance (Home Town Health), BUT I was instructed by a Dr. Keystone that I must attend a, as yet nonexistent, weight loss program up at UNR, called Weight Loss for Life. The WSG people are livid because it wasn't on the original requirements and people who live outside of Reno do not have to attend (so the rules are being applied unfairly). In addition, I have been with Weight Watchers since January. The Dr.'s name is Jay Keystone, if any of you are with HHP. We need to write a letter to Dr. Keystone objecting to this move. RenoNative.

im out of town until tuesday so im sorry i havent written back.. I wasnt able to attend the lapband group at south meadows since i was out of town. I did hear about it, and also heard the facilitator is someone who didnt have the band herself. I dont really want to have a support group that is for prospective patients.. i mean maybe a few here and there but mostly looking for a group that we can all meet once or twice a month and talk about what its like and see what each of us are going through.. live support basically.

Hi there. My mother-in-law was banded in November 2004 in Mexico (we had the same surgeon). She is ready for her first fill and would like to find a doctor closer to her. She live in Henderson, right outside of Las Vegas. Does anyone know any good doctors that will fill patients from Mexico for a decent price?

Thanks in advance.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
