Samantha T 41 Posted January 19, 2019 I just received the call for my psychologist appointment next Saturday! After this I only have a couple more requirements before I can submit to insurance. I think I'm more nervous about this than the actual surgery.Sent from my moto e5 plus using BariatricPal mobile app

Sent from my moto e5 plus using BariatricPal mobile app I was so nervous about my psych interview also. I overthought and stressed about it because everyone had such different experiences with them that I didn't know what to expect. I can only tell you my experience was great. After doing an online questionnaire I was scheduled for a phone interview which consisted of questions about any history of depression, suicidal thoughts, why I wanted the surgery (for my health and mobility) if I was married or had any children and does my family support my decision for weight loss surgery. It felt like I was talking to one of my friends. Just be yourself and you'll be fine! 1 Samantha T reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted January 20, 2019 It should be fairly easy. I already work with a therapist due to depression, so I didn't have to see a psychologist per se but I did have to meet with the psych lady at the surgeon's office for about 30 minutes and all she wanted to make sure was that I had a support system in place for post-op and that I had realistic expectations of the results. 1 Samantha T reacted to this
anonbaribabe 236 Posted January 20, 2019 Congrats! I was a little nervous about the psych eval, but it was no big deal. It actually ended up being one of the easiest parts of the entire process for me. Good luck! 1 Samantha T reacted to this
Samantha T 41 Posted January 20, 2019 Thanks guys. I know I shouldn't worry about it and I really don't have any issues that would prevent me from getting the surgery. There's just that one little voice in the back of my head that's making me over think anything I could say.Sent from my moto e5 plus using BariatricPal mobile app
ABawdyMermaid 70 Posted January 20, 2019 It's really not so bad, I promise! I ended up going back to the evaluation psychologist as my normal psychologist now as well, which is really nice. They typically just ask questions that judge whether or not you're ready for the surgery, if you have eating disorders, and so on. 1 Samantha T reacted to this
angie_is_losing_it 90 Posted January 21, 2019 Mine literally only took 15 minutes. He just asked questions about my family, if I had support etc..Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Samantha T reacted to this
lifeasfaith 48 Posted January 26, 2019 I went back for my follow up to my psych eval to go over what they "found out about me" lol! Actually it wasn't that bad! I did really well and I've been cleared to proceed forward with surgery!!! Samantha T 41 Posted January 26, 2019 I was there for 5 minutes and then he told me he would send it to my doctor's office. I was just nervous that I would be delayed. I'm so close to my surgery that I don't want anything to get in the way!Sent from my moto e5 plus using BariatricPal mobile app 1 justmetj reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted January 28, 2019 So Samantha do you have a tenative date yet? Sounds like things are falling into place for you. 1 Samantha T reacted to this
Samantha T 41 Posted January 28, 2019 So Samantha do you have a tenative date yet? Sounds like things are falling into place for you.Im thinking early to mid May. I have my fourth of 6 months of appointments tomorrow and my Drs office said it takes about a month for insurance approval and then a week or two for the surgery date. The only requirements I have left after my colonoscopy/endoscopy next month are a nutrition class and a hospital class.Sent from my moto e5 plus using BariatricPal mobile app
