I thought after surgery I wouldn’t have as strong of hunger pains. I think they are stronger now and more often. Anyone else notice this?

Are you sure they are hunger pains? More often than not it is too much acid in your stomach being mistaken for hunger. I have experienced zero hunger pains (growling stomach) but have experienced a ton of discomfort from excess acid. Try taking an acti-acid and seeing if it helps!

No, I just 5.5 weeks post-op and while hungry every 3 hours, it hasn't been "pain" or extreme hunger. I can only eat 2 oz at a time, just more frequently. But sometimes it's "head hunger" and not really "stomach hunger"

My hunger is nothing like pre surgery. It's more manageable for me post surgery. You may want to call your office to rule out a medical issue.

Are you on real food stage yet? How often are you eating meals?

Are you sure they are hunger pains or pains from not eating when you used to eat? I know there are times after I’ve eaten where my Tum says I’m hungry but my brain says these pains are not hunger related - try drinking Water and keeping up more fluids - if not working talk to your doctor / call the office and discuss your concerns :)

It may be reflux or head hunger, but some people swear it's regular hunger... Woman in my support group hammered the NUT until she accelerated her stage to soft foods and was finally not starving anymore...

Use ever tool you can to defeat it, while staying on plan. Warm liquids, can be more satisfying than cold and adding Protein Powder or shakes to tea/coffee/cocoa will go a long way...

And contact your team, as always, to clarify anything we can't help with ❤

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
