Jendkopp 62 Posted January 18, 2019 I know I’m only 4.5 weeks post-op, but I’m concerned about how to get enough nutrition when limited to 4oz of food. I’m still on puréed, so I’m hungry all the time. Last night was my first time back to exercise, and I had no energy. How will I have enough energy to work out when I’m only eating 4oz meals. I know some will say to not exercise for a while, but I’m a group fitness instructor and can’t just quit. 2 Wanda247 and Healthy_life reacted to this
Biddy zz 🏳️🌈 1,004 Posted January 18, 2019 Hi there - don’t worry too much. Your body adapts really quickly and your energy bounces back - with gusto, in my case! Keep eating to plan, getting in your Protein, good range of leafy veggies so your nutritional needs are taken care of. For what it is worth my surgeon tracks his 1700 patients. 1-2 years on over 90% are on less than or about 1000 calories a day and energy levels are hardly ever an issue. Personally - I cant believe how much more energy I have now. Not lugging that extra unneeded 100lbs around probably helps!! 2 Wanda247 and sillykitty reacted to this
notmyname 593 Posted January 18, 2019 I was REALLY tired at 4.5 weeks. My doc said I'd start feeling better at 2 months, and he was right. At 3 weeks, I started back to the gym doing the treadmill for 30+ minutes, at 6 weeks I was cleared to start back with Pilates and working on strength training with my trainer. I feel 1000% better now (2.5 months out) than I did at 4.5 weeks - and I'm still eating less than 4oz of food 3x/day. It may be worth asking your NUT to see if there is anything different you need to do with your diet because you're a fitness instructor - I assume that means you're working out multiple times a day, which I know I am not. 1 Healthy_life reacted to this
Jendkopp 62 Posted January 19, 2019 Thanks guys! Bring a group fitness instructor is my side “fun” job. Good to know the energy will come back eventually 2 Biddy zz 🏳️🌈 and Healthy_life reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted January 19, 2019 Your body will adjust. I'm 5.5 weeks post-op and have been working out at the gym again since Week 3 and having no problems with energy or anything eating between 600-850 calories/day 1 Healthy_life reacted to this
Lolo 2020 236 Posted January 20, 2019 On this topic, i am 4 weeks out and trying to transition to foods, but the one day i didn’t have a Protein Drink i felt horrible, no energy and ravenous! Is everyone still on one or 2 Protein Drinks a day as they transition to foods? I don’t feel like i get enough Protein without the drink
