Hi there ! I am new to the group everyone. I just had had my band done on Sept 21st. 2004. I live in Chicago. and I am doing really great. So far so good. I am down 67 pounds. I just really want to talk to people that are in the same boat and also have a band, that has been the biggest struggle. family and freinds are supportive but only to a certain point! So I am just glad I found this web site. I was on the the bandsters and there was so much negative stuff going, so I am just super up beat about this whole experience( but yet realalistic)! So I can't wait to just talk! It has been a huge journey so far that is for sure. By the way I am 31 years old, and wighed 239 pre-op and right now I am 172. Have had weight problems just like everyone else my life starting at about 4th grade. So the journey has begun. Can't wait to to hear from anyone!

Hi New hope thanks! my goal weight is 139# so a total weigh loss of 100#'s. So many things have changed so far. Like no more plus size clothes yeah no more Lane Bryant. I am in a size 12. That is so huge for me. Just not getting so upset looking in in the mirror anymore and disgusted at what is going to fit today. It's nice just sliding into anything in the closet. Kind of like a freedom. Crossing of the legs. Walking with my head higher. Playing with my neice and nephew and not keeling over with sweat. The list goes on and on. Thanks for asking me that question by the way soemtimes I forget all the positive things.

So tell me about yourself new hope how much did you start at and how is it going etc.. what has changed all that good stuff I would love to hear all about it!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
