I weighed this morning and have not lost anything in 2 weeks. I'm 5 weeks post-op. I'm assuming it's normal because of the transition from liquids to foods and just the continuing healing process of the stomach trying to figure out what's happened to it. I am going to the restroom fine everyday.

Pre op?

Bowel movements, or lack thereof will significantly impact (pun intended) weight/weight loss. Speak with your team or primary about resolving this issue quickly.

If you're only 17 days post-op, your body is likely still healing. It may be a bit until you see a good weight loss, but just stick to the plan that your doctor gave you, and once your body is healed, you'll start seeing weight loss.

I highly recommend taking some gentle laxatives like Smooth Move tea and Miralax before you get backed up to the point of impaction. That is NOT fun to deal with.

Fluid retention is real after any surgery. I think I didn't actually get on the scale for the first 3 weeks. I tried and fought all the urges to stay away from the scale so I was not disappointed in myself for no reason. Let you body have the time to heal. Be forgiving of the fluctuations until your body has adjusted to the big changes you are going through.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
