Tomorrow final tests at hospital. Surgery the 16th. Excited to start journey but nervous also. Not a spring chicken anymore. When did everyone start Vitamins? How often did you drink. Set timer?

As soon as you get out of the hospital you can start chomping down the chewable vitamins. While I was in the hospital, I had a chart that gave me exact times to drink some Water from a 2 oz cup. I failed miserably. The nurses kept getting mad but I was not in my right mind the first couple days after surgery. I was just confused but eventually just started sipping every few minutes from a bottle of water. I got it down now :91_thumbsup: Good luck, these are exciting times!

I start Vitamins one week post-op. I'm trying to drink 8 ounces of Water every hour. I think that I'm going to get one of those water bottles that marks times on it to help with this.

follow your doctors orders. I think all doctors are different. Mine did not have me start Multivitamins until 4 weeks post op. I am now almost 9 weeks post op and havent started the Iron or Calcium. When i asked he said later down the road as needed. This could be because the multi i am taking actually has iron in it and i honestly didnt check on the calcium.

Each doctor has their own plan and it really depends on what they put you on after surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
