What Is A Soft Spot Or Sweet Spot?

Recommended Posts

I'm having my lap band done on Dec. 10th. I've read a few of the threads regarding soft-spot and sweet spot. What are they?:rolleyes

I think you mean soft stop.

A soft stop is an indicator from your body that it's time to stop eating, or else. You may or may not have one. For those that have them, common soft stops are hiccuping, burping, runny nose, sneezing, a sort of little gasp/sigh, etc. If you're in the middle of chewing, and get to your soft stop, it's time to spit out the food in your mouth.

Sweet spot is the point where your band is neither over filled nor underfilled, but filled just right. Many people find that at their sweet spot, they see the most consistent and reliable weightloss.

You can also get the oh-so-pleasant soft stop indicator of excess sinus drainage, like I did. For a long time, I thought I didn't have one, until I realized that was happening.

my dr. told me that your sweet spot is that perfect fill when you know that your band is tight enough for you to lose at a very steady pace. so when you hit that sweet spot you will know.

I've been banded for 2,5 yrs. had 7 fills till now and still didn't reach my sweet spot... that's very frustrating! Sweet spot is what you get when you reach the perfect fill for you (this varies a lot from one person to the other) and that gives you a wonderful feeling of restriction during which you loose weight at a steady pace, without needing an unfill.

The soft-spot is when your brain and your band are tunned in and agree it's time for you to stop eating (or you might feel stuck, blockage , PB, ...)

Best of luck for your new life,

niki

!!!! I've been on LBT for quite a while, and I did read about the soft stop before banding, and then forgot all about it. After reading Wheetsin's response to this thread, I realized that I DO have a soft stop! I get to a certain point, and I do a little sigh. It's pretty subtle, so I have to pay attention, but WOW! Who'da thunk it?

What in the world causes that?! I had a fill today and my sinuses were draining like crazy. It took a minute for my Water to drain after the fill and as I was driving home my sinuses started draining in droves.

Any ideas?

When I get full I get flush faced. My face will get very warm. It is so weird how everyone experiences different things. I will have to pay more attention to the other ones to see if I do them without noticing.
