RickM 1,752 Posted January 13, 2019 Initially, it is the typical bariatric diet that's Protein first and then whatever else fits and fits with whatever specific diet a patient may be on or prefer. Many do one of the popular commercial type diets like Atkins, paleo or Keto, but that's a preference for them rather than a physiological necessity. I'm 7-8 years out and just eat a fairly basic balanced diet - some meat and dairy, whole grains, lots of fruits and veggies and the occasional junky no-no; in short, a little bit of everything, not too much of anything. My wife is fairly similar being 13-14 years out on a DS, though she also puts in a daily smoothie that incorporates a lot of her supplementary potassium and Calcium.
