Having a routine colonoscopy next week. Was wondering if anyone with a sleeve has had one? Im concerned about the amounts of Water that have to be drunk with the actual prep. I am going to call Monday to check. Yes, the gastro Dr. Knows Ive had the sleeve. I sw the phys asst. @ my bariatric center and he says not a problem. Im still concerned because 64oz of water in an hour is not doable....

Anybody?

I've had one, but it was several years after surgery so Fluid intake wasn't a problem like it can be in the first few months. Have you talked to the gastro, or whomever is doing the colonoscopy, about the problem to see if they have any alternate preps - things have changed over the years and there are several approaches to the clean out, some needing less fluid than others.

I am calling again on Monday. The gastroenterologist knows Ive had the sleeve and said its fine. But when i read the details of the prep instructions, i raised an eyebrow at the fluid intake amount. As if the whole process isant difficult enough! Thnx for ur reply

I am interested in this as well. I am due to have a routine colonoscopy, and am a bit alarmed about the prep too. I know there are low volume, and split volume preps available, but they still need to be augmented with extra Water. Anyone with a sleeve had this done recently?

I will be doing the prep Wednesday nite, 2 doses, one at 7pm, then another in the early morning depending on time of procedure. I will report back. Also- calling dr in morning to check again if its ok to take longer than the hour to get in 64oz after getting the prep down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
