Abbey M. 69 Posted January 11, 2019 If you drink too much too quickly yes it hurts in your diaphragm for a brief moment, but is that it? Does it damage your sleeve or cause your sleeve to stretch? I’m 4 days post op and drinking fluids now. Sometimes they go too fast and it hurts for a second but it’s not unbearable. Is this causing damage?
SteveT74 360 Posted January 11, 2019 No, you can't hurt yourself or damage your sleeve from drinking too much or too quickly. The pain you feel will stop you for going to far and liquid will pass through your stomach and right through your pyloric valve without resistance. You are told to take small sips frequently in order to make sure you are well hydrated and not in physical discomfort. After your stomach swelling subsides, you'll be able to drink like normal. I was sleeved on 12/17 and I can already drink the same as I did before surgery (big gulps). Since I can drink "normally", I haven't been taking sips constantly, but always have my water bottle handy and drink regularly--hitting at least 64 ounces a day and sometimes closer to 100. The drinking really is a big key to rapid weight loss. 3 Ed_NW, Abbey M. and DreamBelieveAchieve reacted to this
Abbey M. 69 Posted January 11, 2019 Thank you. Yeah I’m only 4 days post op and suddenly I’m just able to drink. I’m still taking it slowly but I’ve drank about 24ounces in 4.5-5 hours or so. I am tolerating it well and it doesn’t hurt. I just want to make sure I’m not going to effect my suture line or anything by drinking too much too quickly. 1 Frustr8 reacted to this

Jendkopp 62 Posted January 23, 2019 I asked my dr this question and she assured me that liquids won’t stretch the sleeve 1 BrittneyE reacted to this
