Hi guys! So I had surgery Monday, on day 4 of post op. When does the soreness start getting better. I found that today and yesterday I am SUPER sore on my big incision. When will I start feeling human again? I’m not on pin meds, only Tylenol.

Everyone is different. I was back to myself after 2 weeks. But once I started eating normally I would have pain on my upper incision near my stomach again. It will get better. Take it Day by day, week by week you will feel the difference. And it will all be worth it in the end.

Questions: Why no pain meds?

My doctor didn’t prescribe pain medicine. Just Tylenol which honestly I’m fine with because pain meds make me super nauseous anyway.

Honestly, eveneryone is different, you may take longer to get past the pain than others. Get well soon 🎈

No pain meds from my doctor also. Which I'm glad. But for me it was about a week that I was feeling back to normal. And never hungry. LOL

I had surgery on Tuesday and the soreness is the worst! Hopefully it'll get better for us soon! I have percocet, but honestly, I'm not sure how much it's helping—seems like it just makes me sleepy.

It really is the worst. How are you doing on fluids? Are you able to get down the Protein Shakes and get 64oz of Fluid in already? I’m struggling to get it all down.

Oh definitely not. I tried to have a Protein Shake today, but it was taking me so long that I switched back to Water. I'd rather go without Protein than get dehydrated. So far today I've only got in 25 ounces.

I'm a week post op and mostly my stomach aches when I stand up - and I think it's just b/c my belly is pulling. Otherwise they did give me a LOT of oxycotin. I didn't take any either. I have NO idea what I'm going to do with this stuff..LOL. My incisions do itch tho'. A lot. Which I guess means they are healing.

It really is. My family keeps telling me to drink more and it's so annoying...obviously if I could drink more, I would!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
