Recidivist 1,141 Posted January 10, 2019 (edited) I had my pre-op appointment (for gastric bypass) at the hospital yesterday, and I have checked all the boxes to the satisfaction of my surgeon. They will now submit it to my insurance for pre-approval before setting a surgery date, and I'm quite anxious about that step. Since I'm sort of marginal in terms of BMI, I'm worried that the insurance will turn me down (although "fortunately" i also have high BP, sleep apnea and I'm pre-diabetic). Has anyone been turned down by the insurance the first time? If so, how did you resolve it? Has your doctor intervened and talked to the insurance company directly? (I have really good health insurance with Aetna.) Edited January 10, 2019 by Recidivist

Jenwill630 119 Posted January 10, 2019 Don't worry until you have something to worry about. I know...easier said than done. I was exactly where you are a week ago.......plus I had to switch insurance and I was positive there would be a fight due to that. Insurance switched 1-1, Dr's office submitted 1-2, I was approved the morning of 1-4. Don't sweat it. 1 Recidivist reacted to this
Recidivist 1,141 Posted January 10, 2019 Thanks for the reassurance, Marine and Jen. You are right--better to focus on real problems than things that might never happen. 1 Jenwill630 reacted to this
