GASTRIC SLEEVE and HERBAL LIFE

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is Emerito I had gastric sleeve surgery May 2016. I weighed 320 pounds and dropped down to 175 pounds. I currently with 215 now and have decided to go on herbal life to shed at least 25 pounds. Can anyone give me advice if herbal life is ok for me and if so wondering how long would it take to drop these 25 pounds. Sucks that I’ve gained 25 pounds but I let go of myself for a bit and want to get back into shape!!!!!!

I have no idea how good/bad herballife products are for you but they barely dodged a huge lawsuit for engaging in illegal multi-level marketing aka being a pyramid scheme, and I would stay far away from that. The only person who makes money in a pyramid scheme is the guy/gal who comes up with it and is at the top. I also think they take advantage of SAHMs, military spouses, and other people who have trouble working traditional jobs and don't deserve to get ripped off.

I just want to do the diet not be a representative of herbal life. Just need to lose the weight I’ve gained and that’s it. I’m happy of the fact I lost so much weight with my gastric sleeve but I’ve gained some weight and need to lose it but it’s been a bit tough for me. If you know or have some advice on what can I eat after 2 years post op I would really appreciate it thank you 🙏

No need to tell me about the “history of herbal life “ I do not care about that all I care about is the proper diet to lose it. From the 5 side effects of gastric sleeve surgery I’ve really been struggling with one and that’s the alcohol consumption it’s been really bad for me and I know I need to stop but it’s been so hard to do so and that’s what has me gaining weight

Herbalife is far from a proper diet. They over-charge you on shakes and supplements that you could easily supply yourself from the grocery store for a fraction of the cost.

If you're struggling with alcohol consumption, then I feel that is something you should tackle versus going onto a fad diet. Talk with your doctor, or your team from when you first had the surgery! Alcohol dependency is a very real thing post-wls surgery! Like I mentioned, focus on lessening your alcohol consumption and then the next step (if you don't see any weight loss, which I highly doubt) can be your diet and exercise.

I feel like you are in a really good place right now because you've gotten past a really first important step - you know an issue that could be causing your weight gain! A glass a wine is not going to untie everything you've done, but if you're like me - some things are not acceptable in moderation and should just stay away from.

You still are reaping the benefits of the decision you made, you still look really good! So, do what you can and manage the alcohol consumption. If you're still having issues, that can be dealt with too! :)

Hi! I was sleeved in May 2016 also...was at a happy weight, had a sweet baby girl 7 months ago and currently dealing with about 15-20lbs of weight I have to re-lose. So...how did Herbal Life work for you? I started the shake plan yesterday which is very similar to my pre-op diet. How much weight have you lost if you have tried it?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
