sandygs 18 Posted January 9, 2019 Sleevers I feel ashamed of myself. I am 4 months out and I can eat a whole grilled cheese! I mentioned to the nutritionist that I had ate a grilled cheese, she was like, "You can't eat the whole thing can you?" Oh Yes I can, does this mean I have stretched my pouch? I'm so scared now. 1 2 Bari_KS, ProudGrammy and Frustr8 reacted to this

That sounds like a slider food situation to me. I can easily eat cheese especially if it's melted and the only bread product that doesn't give me trouble is toast. I'm 5 mo out from my bypass and was pretty naughty over the holidays. I was surprised at how much food I could eat at once. But only junk food. Once I got myself back on track and started managing my mealtimes and Snacks better, the restriction is definitely still there. Don't beat yourself up over your food choices - we have all been there! Get that Protein in - it's definitely helping me. Good luck on your journey! 3 FluffyChix, Frustr8 and ProudGrammy reacted to this
sandygs 18 Posted January 9, 2019 Thanks Naughty Glitter Goddess for replying to my post. I'm trying to get back on track from the holidays too, which means more protein! I just hope the fact that I can eat a whole grilled cheese doesn't mean I've stretched my pouch. 😕 1 Frustr8 reacted to this

No need to beat yourself up over a set back. Get back on the horse. The sum of small things repeated day in and day out will get you to your goals. Your surgery restriction will become less as you progress out from surgery. The majority of sleevers can consume more food months/years out. Don't waste your first year. It's your best weight loss. You can join us on the January weight loss challenge to stay motivated and get back on track https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/421742-❤-january-2019-challenge-❤/ Things that sleevers should know and prepare for: Stretching the sleeve - It's rare. If you are concerned have your surgeon diagnose it and look into a revision. Many people confuse the normal increased pouch space with stretching. (your stomach has not grown back to full size) Many also confuse grazing with stomach stretching. Grazing is eating small meals (combinations of healthy/unhealthy food) throughout the day that total over your calorie and macro goals. It is as if you never had surgery. You will gain weight. Just because we can consume more calories with the extra space does not mean we have to fill that space. You can eat healthy foods, be satiated, and stay within your calorie goals. Off my soap box. 🙂 3 Frustr8, Naughty Glitter Goddess and FluffyChix reacted to this

FluffyChix 17,415 Posted January 9, 2019 Get back to doing your basics as everyone has mentioned to you. Dense Protein first. Do not exceed 1 cup of food by volume EVEN IF YOU CAN! That is the kiss of death. The bitter irony is that this program/surgery only works as prescribed. If you try to freestyle and "eat things in moderation" of the craptastic calorically dense kind, we can eat WAY more than 1 cup and then we end up overeating calories. It's reward food heroine/crack cocaine to us. It's what got most of us to the Obesity Ball in the first place. Moderation? BS. What moderation? 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
