Over the past 5 years I’ve steadily gained 40 pounds. The last 3 months I’ve gone back to basics and following the rules and abandoning the bad habits I’d developed.

question is how fast should I expect the weight to come back off? I’m down 15 pounds in 3 months. Stalling last 3 weeks

calories 800carb50 net carb 30

exercise 15-20 min a day?

I think 1-2 pounds a week is ideal. More than that and it will come back quickly - it's not sustained.

Good luck.

Be careful going too low with calories this far out. Our bodies go into starvation mode after awhile and will have to start burning muscle to run our basic functions because there aren't enough calories being consumed to keep us going (our brains need 300-600 calories by themselves!). After awhile, if we go "off" that super low calorie diet, our bodies freak out and hold on to all the extra because it doesn't know when we will feed it enough calories again. I wouldn't be going under 1200, especially if doing some sort of exercise.
You should figure out your basal metabolic rate (the number of calories my body burns if I stayed in bed all day and did nothing but breathe and blink) and eat about 300 calories under that to safely lose weight.
For example, I'm 5'7" and weigh 165, female 40 years old, and the calculator gives me a BMR of 1,500 calories. I don't count calories at 14 years out, but I must stay in a pretty good range because my weight is pretty stable.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
