Water makes me sick at night?

Recommended Posts

I've been having a lot of trouble getting in all my Water for the day because in the evening water starts making me feel extremely nauseous. I'm able to sip at my water up until that point. I'm also still able to drink Protein Shakes and have Soup just fine too. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had trouble with plain Water initially, a lot of people do - Crystal Lite for some reason worked. You can also do peppermint tea, that sometimes takes the edge off the water taste (metallic?).

I am six months post sleeve and still can’t tolerate plain Water. Have to use crystal lite. My tummy just doesn’t like it plain.

I find putting in a lime helps me heaps, and also sugar free cordial if it is days that I'm really struggling to drink. I have had to change my drinking habits completely as i was one who would skull Water and drink at night heaps too. so my body is not interested drinking on 'my' terms at sipping so these things are helping me a bit :)

I found sugar free hot chocolate or bariatric hot chocolate was a lifesaver when I couldn't drink Water. Sugar free water flavorings help too, but beware the laxative effect!

Thank you, everyone, for all the advice! I've tried adding flavorings to my Water, and it works! I can get more down :)

Just today I am starting to have this issue now, where a little bit after drinking Water I get very nauseous. I am going to try adding flavorings into it and see if that helps!

And also change the temperature, lukewarm almost always returns back up, warm like tea or iced and cold, but pee-warm, No No No!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
