Arm lift - What was your self pay total?

Recommended Posts

I had gastric sleeve about 8 months ago and I am down around 60 pounds. I am 8 pounds away from my personal goal and 17 from my doctor's goal.

Even before my sleeve, I had flappy arms. This was mostly due to weight fluctuations on various diets throughout the year. Obviously, having the sleeve has not helped. This is the only area of my body that I have this issue, and although I was originally against any kind of surgery, I am really thinking about saving the money and getting it done.

For those of you that had this done in the United States, what did you pay? I know insurance probably will not cover it, so I will have to pay out of pocket. As a teacher, it will probably take a good while to save up, but it will be worth it.

Check out BariatricPalmx. That might end up being a more affordable option. I might have to get some work done too so I can avoid the flying squirrel look. :)

Have you seen www.realself.com?

‘Lots of great info there regarding what things cost near you, surgeons near you, photos, etc.

A close friend of mine had Brachioplasty done after weight loss. If I remember correctly it was around the 8k range but was bundled with another procedure so I don’t know if maybe there was a bit of a price break or what have you. Costs can vary pretty dramatically by state.

I looked at the receipt and 7900. I think DC is expensive as is my PS. Maybe I need to go to Kansas!! Scars... I had arm lift Sept of 2018 and after 10 weeks in compression have kept tsilicon tape on them to flatten and provide 100 percent sun block. The scars are well placed and less noticeable. Still tender to touch finally consider laser scar treatment as an option - effective within a 6 month window. I rejected this option as my arm skin is so thin. I did not pursue it after the procedure as I am pleased with the scar progress Now it is at that 6 month mark and less effective. It helped knowing it was an option. Plus for me scars are jut a part of my journey!!! Still no need not to keep it minimal. Whew - long post.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
