Dec 2018 - May 2019 Dietician Consult Buddies?!

Recommended Posts

My first surgeon visit in December 2018 also counted as a nutrition consult so my last consult should be in May. Monday, Jan 7th, I have the first true dietician consult in the evening. No idea what to expect yet so it'd be cool to keep up with other folks going through the same thing at the same time. Hollar at me!

You rang? I started my consult in Dec as well, my last nutrition group visit is 05/10!

I wonder when my surgery will be scheduled. If anyone pops in here that has completed the 6 month pre-op process, did your surgeon schedule surgery after the 6 months or during?

LOL, I think you wore us out on your last RD thread. :D

Bahahahahahaaaa! Mission accomplished :P I'm not worried anymore. The RD texted me throughout the day and we've gotten to talk which was super cool.

Sweet! I can't pre-schedule my visits ahead, just one at a time. We definitely need to keep in touch :91_thumbsup:

I was also wondering if the surgeon could pre-schedule surgery, to just save the date. That's something I'll be asking on the 14th at my next appt. Lemme know what you find out :)

I hope you guys can get scheduled ahead! Mine was a 12 month program and they wouldn't send it for approval til after the 12 months and the required 10% loss (which ended up taking me 23 months, not 12) and then they still wouldn't schedule until after the insurance approval (which was first denied, then appealed, then overturned). I hope for everyone to get what they need as soon as possible!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
