Having a hard time tonight - triggered by a lifetime of old emotions... went straight to eating :( I'm so sad about it. I guess there's still emotional work to do.

But did you notice you couldn't actually eat as much as you used to? Or did you eat food like ice cream, Cookies, etc. and feel yucky? Don't beat yourself up! You get a re-do tomorrow!

I ate more than usually can... not sure why. I had a grilled cheese sandwich :( I feel dreadful now. It's just shown me I need to get some help for this. Must find a therapist.

I hope all of us are starting to feel pretty good at 3 months (or a little more). I have not been counting carbs, fat, or calories because I really don't feel like I'm eating that much of a variety of foods that are dense in any of those. I am losing about 1-2 lbs per week but losing inches faster than I thought. My lab work was all great when I had it checked recently, but my thyroid levels were low. My endocrinologist told me not to take my Synthroid within 4 hours of taking any Vitamins so I need to change the timing of taking my meds. I have been feeling more tired in the evenings and not sleeping as soundly at night. I am also getting a lot of gas pains on my left side that are annoying me. My other gripe is lower back pain. Seems to be worse lately. I've heard a lot of folks have tailbone pain after the surgery. I need to drink more...it's so easy to forget to make myself do that. Overall, though, I feel pretty good. Just wanted to share the way I'm feeling physically at this stage....

What kinds of foods are y'all in a routine of eating? Anyone still having issues keeping food down? I know some of you have been really battling that.

I am really noticing the changes in the way my body feels. I definitely need stronger bras to hold the girls up and I can grab skin on my thighs and arms that feel loose. I am loving the weight loss, but gravity is not being kind. My chicken wings on my arms are annoying and I'm wondering if lifting weights will do anything at all. Has anyone noticed that added arm muscle helps with the chicken wings?

Hey everyone! I got back from the Alaska cruise yesterday, during which I turned 60. If you haven't seen it before, I cannot recommend Alaska highly enough!

I basically stuck to the program during the cruise, with some minor "cheats"--lobster with drawn butter, crab with drawn butter, shrimp scampi with butter, and several high-protein dishes that probably contained more fat than I should be eating. Of course, all the portions were very small. I didn't drink at all and ate essentially no carbs. It honestly didn't feel like much of a hardship not to stuff myself at the buffet.

The best news of all is that I came back seven pounds lighter. I'm thrilled, particularly after stalled for a couple of weeks recently.

You may be the first person to go on a cruise and lose weight! Aside from the butter, it sounds like you were eating a lot of Protein given the lobster, crab, and shrimp all are protein-rich foods. Glad you had such a success AND an awesome vacation.

I just noticed my arms yesterday. Everywhere else on my body is shrinking up but I kind a glimpse of my wings as you called them in the mirror yesterday. Years ago I had liposuction and Had thought about addressing my arms but never did. I think I’ll add it to my plastic surgery wish list.

Sheri, you are awesome! You are so damn dedicated!

I, on the other hand, am just trying to get through it. May was one of the most challenging, busy and stressful months of my adult life. I started a new job as a sales rep and part of my responsibility is to conduct ride along‘s. I had a manager in the car for two full days. That means Breakfast, lunch and dinner with the same person.

I am very open and talk about my personal life with everyone but I do not have a level of comfortability with this manager; therefore I do not reveal that I had surgery. I was just trying to pretend to be “normal” (eating 3 meals a day). I was pushing food around on my plate and hiding things and napkins to make it look like I was eating. It was so uncomfortable for me!!!! She kept noticing and said “you are only going to have Soup? ” Or “you are a cheap date!”.

Why are people so intrigued with what I’m eating? Even the servers make comments to me. “Oh honey you didn’t eat it all!” “Did you not like the food?” “Do you want a to go box?”

Y’all just leave me alone! Haha!

Lastly, and then I’m done - I’m also in a stall. However, I am not trying. I am not focused on myself, my health or my food intake in any capacity. We close on our house on Monday and I’ve been so overwhelmed with things this month that I haven’t had any time for myself.

So I’m stuck at 124 but for God’s sake... it’s 124! I haven’t been this thin in 10 years. Yes, I’m only 5 feet tall and most skinny people would not consider 124 “thin” by their standards. The way I see it is that 124 is my new “high” weight and that makes me happy. It’s not like I’m going to GAIN any weight!

Hopefully after this move and one other distraction I have on the horizon I’ll be back in a routine by the 3rd week of June... hopefully.

Thanks, Gotta. You are right: I stuck to Protein and the only cheating was some high-fat food--no sugar, no alcohol, and minimal carbs. And the good thing is that I didn't feel particularly deprived. I learned that I can sit with others at dinner and enjoy my shrimp cocktail while everyone else is eating a full meal.

Good work! That must have been quite a challenging week for sure.

About a week and a half ago I had brunch with a good friend who knows I had surgery.
We went to a very popular breakfast place right by my Pilates studio and I was excited to go there.
I ended up ordering 1 scrambled egg with a side of ham from the a la carte menu and finished about half the egg and about 1/3 of the ham.
Me and my friend both noticed the waitress cruising by our table a few times, slowing down, then heading off to another table.
I finally signaled for the check and she confessed she didn’t come over yet because there was “no way I could be finished”.
I’m still not sure how I feel about that reaction but I guess it’s going to be the new normal for me.

I have to admit that I still suffer guilt from how good I’ve felt from about week 2 onwards.
That being said, I’m just freaking glad month 3 is almost over because of that horrible stall I had.
Lost 6.5 pounds for the ENTIRE month of May! 😱😱

I just had my labs drawn Friday morning so it will be a few days yet before I get them.
Can’t wait to see where I am on things.
Since my stall started I’ve been religiously logging all food and Water trying to find out where I’m screwing up.
Still haven’t found it, but I can’t quit so I’ll keep logging and trying to push through it.
My body feels stronger today than it’s felt in over 14 years, which is saying something since I’m 50 now.

I still have a problem holding volume so I eat Protein first, then veg. Zero added carbs in sauces or dressings. My biggest intake of carbs Is my chewable vitamins.
I try to vary my protein with seafood, poultry pork and beef for balance and to stave off boredom.
Last night we had big fat pan-seared scallops with green Beans.
Tonite will be a Cobb salad.

Okay and here is my brunch: one single scrambled egg and 1 slice bacon. Cut into 2 portions for 2 breakfasts and I wasn’t able to finish portion #1. 🤣🤣

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
