February 2019 weight loss buds

Recommended Posts

Gotta, I don’t normally feel starving like that. I usually just get hungry at meal times and I get “head hunger” at night, but this is different. I normally keep my carbs in the 20g range. Maybe it’s an adjustment thing and it would be better in a day or 2. Idk, but I don’t like it, lol.

The three month stall is real! I have been averaging 4-5lbs per week since surgery day and alas this past week only 1.2lbs

Oh gosh, I wish I was in that kind of stall! Mine is losing and gaining the same two pounds for about two weeks now.

I've always been able to eat normal, (mostly) during the day. After dinner is when I feel relaxed and I overeat. I wish it would just go away, but it's still there and a struggle.

Hi everyoneI I don't think I've posted in here before. I'm more of a lurker. I had surgery on Feb 6, 2019. I'm 5' 6". My HW was 323, SW was 305, and I'm currently bobbing between 268-273. I've been stalled at the bobbing point since April 9th. My question is, I see a lot of you have lost 70+ lbs. Does this seem to be the average for most all of us who had surgery in Feb? I know starting weight is a factor, as well as age and many other things. I'm being honest with my self here, I don't work out like I need to be (Low energy). i'm loosing inches though. I'm down 27 inches from my surgery. Which is what's keeping me somewhat sane. Also my hair started falling out two weeks ago 😕 I knew it was possible, so I wasn't too shocked about it.

Point of all this is; How and where is everyone in their journey?

Transforming, I don’t thing most Feb surgeries have lost 70lbs.

I’m a revision from sleeve to rny, 2/12/19, and I’ve lost 40lbs since surgery, 50 including the preop diet. I lost 28lbs in the 6 months leading up to the preop diet though.

Gaby: I had the same transfer problem when I was off for the 6weeks after surgery. Couldn’t eat so I was gambling heavily on sports. When I went back to work and was busier I slowly did it less and less. Not sure if there is something else to occupy your mind but I get your feeling of wanting to spend !

In response to the average weight loss question, my weight on Jan 1 was 363, operation weight on feb 12 was 347 and current weight 287. So I guess overall weight loss at 3months is 60lbs and since my heaviest 73lbs. I am a little younger than most (I think) 36yrs old and work in a very active field (construction). Although I am pretty loose with guidelines

Hi Transforming_T--welcome to the group! I believe taylormom6 is correct. I'm pretty sure no one in this group has lost an average of 70 lbs post op. I had gastric bypass on February 13 and personally have lost about 35 pounds. I do not exercise much, but I do try to get out and walk around 5,000 steps a day. According to the Internet, that's an "underactive" person. Ha! It's much more active than before!

I think you're doing great, but it's a bummer about your stall since April 9...maybe you are resetting? You lost a lot of weight since surgery! Sorry about the Hair loss. Is it coming out in clumps? My hair is super thin and I am started to feel it thinning even more.... fortunately no clumps yet, just thinning more where the part is. So sad.

Overall I'm doing well, but still dealing with a lot of wind, some cramping, some chest pressure, some frustration...I guess better than some, as I know some in our group are wrestling with horrible nausea.

@Transforming_T - I'm a revision too. I had gastric sleeve surgery and lost weight, then gained and now I've lost since bypass. I've lost 41 lbs since Feb 5th

Thank you all for responding. I’m glad (?) to hear we are all in the general same place.
As for my hair, yeah it’s coming out in clumps sadly. It started off slow and then suddenly was clumps. I started using the vitamin patches from BP a little over a week ago (pills had been giving me terrible stomach cramps and nausea) and today was the first day that it hasn’t come out in a big clump when I brush it. So fingers crossed!
I’ve been dealing with gas and wind too. I added Miralax back in, so that could be my culprit.
I’ve also gotten the foamies the last few days when I eat a Protein solid. It’s like I suddenly can’t eat as much as I could a week ago. I’m still able to get food in, so I don’t think it’s a structure. Just body adjustments I think.

Yeah I’ve only managed to lose 47 pounds since my surgery on 2-6.
Actually since I gained a pound this week, make that 46 pounds lost.

It’s been a long day and I can’t wind down from work tonite.
Here I am up so late and I’ve got a full day tomorrow. Oh my those cortisol levels will be elevated tomorrow because of my lack of sleep.

Same I'm three months out and I'm about 46 pounds down from surgery. I was told I was on track by my surgeon's office.

Don't know how, Precious Pouch still has me brow-beaten, still retaining her egg-shaped figure, won't stretch or accept anything she doesn't like. I get the feeling she is like a tupperware container with a pinhole at the bottom which is the stoma. No motility, feels like she drains by gravity instead. Do the sever nerves when you receive surgery ? If so, how long does it take for them to regenerate? These are questions nobody has given me definite answers to!
Stop patting me on the head like Bowser the dog, tell me how proud you are of my weight loss, give me answers , not placebos and not benign neglect. I promise to stop my whine when you supply what I need! Rant temporary concluded!✊👸

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
