Weird how different places work.
Mine saw me at 2 weeks, and didn’t want to see me again til week of memorial day.
And my surgery was at the beginning of February

I haven’t participated in our group in a few weeks. I did some reading and definitely feel behind everyone in my weight loss (not surprised, just how things always work for me). I want to kick up my exercise routine! I joined the ymca this week. I’m planning on starting out w pool class on Wednesday’s and saturdays. Weights on Fridays and Sundays (and some cardio each day as well).

I was just wondering what everyone else is doing and did it rev up your weight loss?

Had a great 6 week post op Dr. & Dietician visit today. I can move on to the next food stage early. I was told that I needed to up my calories to 600 - 800. I think that'll be hard, but I'll try. Crazy to feel like that for me!! I'm down 57 lbs, very excited about that!! So thankful that I am able to take this journey!!

I haven’t really done much at all. I just started walking this week and my rowing machine is supposed to get here today.

I still can’t believe that another person in this group, has surgery the same day I did, same hospital, with the other dr in a 2 dr practice. We were probably one room away walking the halls and then... we are on this same forum? How random is that?

That is pretty random since I think we have at least three countries represented in this group!

I'm curious how many of you who had gastric bypass are taking an acid reducer. I have been having a lot of chest pain (heartburn?) lately. This can occur after a few sips of my Protein Shake, as soon as I start eating, or even an hour before I start to eat. I am very conscious of chewing everything and eating very slowly, so I can only assume its GERD. I was told I did not have to take my Protonix any longer at this point because I would no longer have GERD after gastric bypass surgery. Are others of you having this crushing chest pain on and off (not just when eating or right afterward) and if so, are you taking an acid reducer or not? I had the bypass as opposed to the sleeve because of my GERD (surgeon saying GERD would only get worse if I had the sleeve). SO confusing, I am starting to take my Fromadine (generic acid reducer) again as the pain is obnoxious!

Congrats on joining us again in the discussion.
I find it really helps keep me focused and plugged in even when I’m having busy/bad days and all I have time is to read and post a single quick post.

I started walking on my treadmill day 3 post surgery.
I was making me crazy to feel like a sick invalid and since walking was encouraged, I did it.
Started out walking just 1 mile per day and was up to 5 miles by the time I went back to work 2 weeks later.
I started Pilates at week 4 (didn’t want to stress my core out too much too fast) I still walk 1-2 times per week and I go to Pilates classes 3-4 times weekly.

Sheri- I went in at 2 weeks, 6 weeks and I’m scheduled in June, which will be 4 months.
Hmmm. Guess my Dr wanted to skip the 6 week visit and go straight from 2 weeks to 4 months 🤷‍♀️

I had the sleeve, but I had horrible GERD and I had to have an endoscopy done before they would let me have the sleeve instead of bypass.
I’m on a daily pantoprazole and dr said I should be able to be off of it 6 months post surgery so it’s just too soon for me to know what my situation is.
I do know that I take that pantoprazole religiously out of fear of acid reflux or stomach upset.

I can say I’ve had zero acid indigestion, but that’s not surprising right now.
Guess I’ll know in 4 more months.
I can say for sure that the GERD isn’t worse though, so there’s that

I had something similar. I also had to have an endoscopy and a barium swallow test before they would let me do the sleeve vs bypass. I previously had a lap band though and developed horrible acid reflux when my band slipped and was ultimately removed.

I'm on omeprazole daily since surgery as a precaution. I have not experienced any acid reflux yet but I don't know if that will be different whenever my surgeon takes me off omeprazole.

That is interesting how different practices see people at different check-in points post-surgery. I saw mine at 10 days, 6 weeks, and I'll go again in May for my three-month check-in.

I had the bypass and they had me on a Protein pump inhibitor until just this week. Haven’t felt any heartburn or reflux unless I eat too close to bed. I’m exactly 2 months from surgery and I’m able to eat pretty consistently 900-1000 calories a day

I had RNY on 2/5. I only had to take PPIs for 4 weeks. No issues since stopping it 4 weeks ago. Prior to surgery I took my pantoprazole daily and still had break through indigestion.

I hope it gets better for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
