Not to be negative because overall I feel good. But I feel you when you say you want to eat but can’t.... I started cooking again and made chicken enchiladas on Friday. Ate about 3 forkfuls. That was very good. Then I made a massive quantity of chicken salad on Saturday. I have been eating that too because there’s really nothing too bad in there. I use light Mayonnaise. I’m able to cut the chicken and really tiny pieces or shred it before I put it in the recipe and then I chew the hell out of it. The second I eat anything I can hear my stomach gurgling so I probably shouldn’t be pushing it but it doesn’t make me sick or nauseated anything negative just lots and lots of gurgling. I can live with gurgling I suppose.

So, I just weighed myself, which I'm only doing once a week--and I gained two pounds in week 2. I can't tell you how discouraging that is. I have been doing everything right and haven't strayed from the plan once. I'm starting to regret having the surgery, but I'll try to stay optimistic and hope for the best next week.

I don’t think you should be discouraged. You had such a difficult start that I would assume you probably have lots of Fluid retention, swelling and adjustment your body is going to have to go through. Just try to stay positive. Are you having bowel movements? Not to get personal but just wondering if that could be part of the deal.

Also I found this article about a week ago that talked about the liver shrinking diet we do before surgery. Says that our liver naturally wants to return to its original size which means growing in size and weight. This happens week two- week three, according to this thing I read. Considering your circumstances I would definitely say your body has some healing to do.

Thanks so much for that. In fact, I haven't had a BM in six days, which is starting to concern me. I should probably wait until after the next one to weigh myself again! 🙂

I told the nurse in my doctors office that I’m not eating so I shouldn’t be having bowel movements and they said no, absolutely not. Protein should be enough for you to have a bowel movement. So if I was getting adequate protein I should definitely be having bowel movements. That’s when they told me it was “my responsibility” to take care of this. It can be dangerous not to go to the restroom for so long. You should try some Dulcolax with me!

My nurse told me to weigh myself naked after going potty first thing in the normal--that is supposedly your "true" weight. So, that's what I've been doing.

Everythinganna--wow, sounds like you're going through a lot with pain. Sorry to hear that. Does the Doculax (assuming it's a stimulant and not a stool softener) cause you severe cramping and nausea? I just can't take that a any more. I was in mega pain doubling in pain yesterday and NO movement. I'm resorting to two doses of Miralax powder in my Water bottles a day and if there is no luck tonight, I'll have to resort to the Doculax suppositories. NOT looking forward to that but I've tried most everything else. LIterally, something's gotta give!

Froufrou--I do not think you should be throwing up all your food at 6 weeks out. I would definitely reach out to your surgeon to ensure you are managing OK. I have (THANKFULLY) not thrown up any of my food. Are you eating in the food super slowly? Since I'm on solid foods now (still chewing like a primate) I have managed to eat 4oz of cottage cheese as my max amount. Tonight I made parmesan-crusted tilapia (found a high-protein recipe) and at about the size of a silver dollar. I'm in the half-hour waiting period before I drink my next beverage--Vitamin Zero water with a nice dose of Miralax!

Here's my question of the day to all y'all, well at least to those of you who have moved from purees to more solid food. What does "full" feel like? As soon as I feel a pain in my solar plexis area, I stop eating. I feel as if that is my signal that I'm full. However, soon after I eat, my stomach makes an awful growling sound like it is now, like my stomach is growling from hunger. If you could share how your stomach feels when you fill "full," I would appreciate it. I have no idea if I should be eating a little more or not!

Yea ganna for the first time I saw a gain of 2lbs. I feel like I can eat a lot more than I should. I’m on a full bypass and I am able to eat a full cup of chunky Soup or chilli without a problem

I took Dulcolax for two days...no outcome except for the horrific cramping and nausea. It just did not do good things for me. I have heard that the Vitamins, the calcium citrate, and the Iron can cause Constipation and I've also read that the protein can cause constipation. Apparently the applesauce, which I've been taking a little of, can also cause it (and I thought it would help). Seems like everything I've been consuming is a constipating agent and with so little actual Fiber intake, it's no wonder nothing every comes out. My doctor doesn't want me to take Benefiber as fiber is not good at this stage. At my first post-op my doctor just said to manage constipation with a stool softener. It has been miserable. I've been drinking 48oz of Water plus the 22oz of liquid in the Protein Shakes each day. Maybe my body needs 100 gallons of water a day....*sigh*. This Thursday night is my first support group meeting (my surgeon requires attendance at three of these group meetings after surgery--should be good). I'll ask the group what they think and report back if I get any new info.

Okay so I’m a full 6 weeks out now and have been on “regular” food for a week.
In the morning my sleeve is so tight that I just can’t even think food.
I drink 20-32 ounces of water and then a half cup of milk to take Vitamins with so my tummy isn’t upset by them.
Sometime between 10am-11:30am, I’m taking in my first actual food of the day.
Sleeve is a lot looser from the liquids and I can eat anywhere from 1/2-3/4 cup of food.
Sometimes I feel slightly “hungry” after this, and if I wasn’t being mindful I might graze, but instead I set my timer for 30 minutes and then start drinking water like I’m getting paid by the ounce. Usually it’s another 20-30 ounces.
Then I’ll have a small “ snack” mid afternoon and then dinner by 6-8pm.
My stomach pretty much growls from the moment I wake til after I’ve gone to sleep, but it doesn’t bother me anymore. I think in the past I would associate that with hunger, but now that the hunger is gone, it’s just noise.
How do I know when I’m full?
I’ll start to get a pain in my solar plexus area also and it reminds me do the horrible pain I had for the first 2 weeks after surgery. It will come on suddenly: one bite doesn’t hurt and the next one does. If I try to eat beyond a couple bites of the pain starting, then a slight bit of nausea kicks in and I’ve even put down the fork mid-way to my mouth because I know that’s the signal for “DONE”.
Tonight that happened to me: I made ground beef taco salad (mine sadly without lettuce) and I was sooooooo happy because it was soooooo yummy.
Then after what seemed like such a small amount, the pain started and I got sad.
Lol, then I remembered that this is exactly what I intentionally signed up for. 🤣🤣🤣

If you're still having Constipation issues, make sure to up your Fluid intake, if you are dehydrated things tend to get 'stuck.' I use Natural Calm to help get things moving. I usually take it at night and by morning I'm good to go without the cramping that I got from Miralax.

Thanks to everyone for caring so much about my bowel movements. 🙂 My doctor recommended Miralax, which I started on Monday. Little success so far, and still no weight loss this week.

As I've said before, my primary problem remains low blood pressure, which gives me bouts of dizziness and disorientation. This morning it was 71/55. I'm seeing the doctor this afternoon to try and figure out what's happening.

So this Pilates studio I go to is right next door to a very popular Breakfast place.
In fact, this place is known to have an hour or more wait on any day of the week and I always have to hunt for a parking place if I’m having a morning class.

Also, this week is spring break which is making it even busier than usual.

Anyway, this morning just as I was opening the door to leave class, I almost walked smack into my bariatric surgeon and his family as I’m heading to my car.
He apparently has the week off because he always does his surgeries on Wednesdays and was taking the fam out to breakfast.
It was funny to see the look on his face when I announced that was my 3rd Pilates class of the week and to tell him to “enjoy breakfast, I’ll see you in May for my 3 month follow-up”.
🤣🤣🤣

I saw my doctor today and it looks like I may have a stricture - apparently it's more common after a revision. I am so done with this - I can't afford to pay for any more surgeries for starters, my body is done with procedures and I don't want to put my husband through any more of this.

I have three days to figure out whether I can or can not get dense Protein down.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
