How are my fellow February 13 surgery friends doing? What sort of pain (if any) are you having? I'm concerned that my pain is more than I should be having. Sharp shooting pains in my midleft stomach and just a feeling of soreness when I get up and start moving around. The nagging pain in my right shoulder has finally gone away. I can't sleep on my side yet, which is a bummer because I'm a side sleeper. How is your energy level? Are you doing OK getting in your Protein and Water? My goal is three 16.8oz Water bottles per day and 2 30g Premier Protein shakes a day. I've had a little sugar-free, fat-free pudding, but I"m not really hungry for food.

Heyyyyy ! I’m doing much better today, but I have a shooting pain in my mid-right belly area which isn’t fun :/ I’m able to sleep on my left side , but not on my right AT ALL. I was worried that I was the only one not able to get my 64oz of liquid down yet. I had a premier shake yesterday for the first time (technically I’m not supposed to for a few more days) but it went down great.

Thanks to everyone who commented about how they're tracking post-surgery! Inspired by Idawn, here's a pic of what I've come up with to track drugs/liquids/food/exercise/mental stress prevention. I daresay I'll relax back on this as I become more familiar with the routine of meals, etc., but so far it's helping my stress levels to be so pedantic! In future, I think I'll add a column for tracking/adding up Protein, so that's easier to track day to day, too.IMG20190218135215.jpeg

I checked in and was taken back to pre op in a few minutes. I was weighed. I had to put on the super stylish gown and no slip socks and give a urine sample (pregnancy test). I was given a package of chlorhexadine wipes to wipe off my body (infection is BAD). The nurse came in and started putting my info in the system and asking basic questions. She started an iv and took vital signs. She also premedicated me with Tylenol, neurontin (for nerve pain), Celebrex (anti inflammatory), and scopolamine patch (nausea).

I was then taken to the next area to wait my turn. The surgeon came and saw me and got consent. Then the anesthesiologist came and saw me and got my health background.

Finally they were ready and I kissed my mom and they rolled me down the hall. Made a stop at the bathroom (because no catheter was needed). I got back on the bed and the anesthesiologist gave versed (anti anxiety that has amnesia effect) as we rolled down the hall. I don’t remember even making it to the OR.

It's a week today for me and this is this best I've been feeling. Each day is a little better. 5 days ago I didn't think I was ever going to feel this good again. I kept having to remind myself it will get easier. Good luck on your surgery and a speedy recovery.

That's great to hear, Blue. I'll have to keep that in mind in first few days after surgery.

Yes. Giving some pain meds
You're doing well, Marine! It was probably 6pm or so before I started feeling in control of myself again--less dopey and out of it.
If you're typing, that's a great sign =)
Hope you start to feel better soon. Sending you positive thoughts!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
