My surgery is on February 11. I have seen a couple others with the same date! I have been on Optifast liquid diet since January 26th until February 8th, then only clear fluids until surgery. The first 3 days were hard, the hunger was significantly less yesterday and I am hoping today is much better. Other than the hunger I have been so tired so I have spent the last 3 days on the couch sleeping on and off all day. 4th day now and I haven't been on the couch yet! Progress!

I actually did the full Optifast program years ago, and I found it got easier the longer I was on it. I lost about 90 pounds, but gained it back afterwards almost as quickly as I had lost it.

I have not had a soda in 4 months. Monday I start my preop diet. Should I have one soda

I say yes! I'm still trying to kick my Diet Coke habit but am finding it difficult. I am down to two cans a day, which is an improvement!

Does anyone plan on having a "last meal" before you go on pre-surgery liquids?

You can put an egg white or Eggbeaters into your boiling broth and make egg drop Soup. Progresso Soups, I would go with only the Light varieties, wouldn't want to go over maybe 15 carbs and try to stay under 100 calories if possible. That's why making your own is so good, you can control what goes in, and spice it if necessary yourself.

Wait, so you think this egg drop Soup would be OK on an all-liquid diet?

Heck yeh. I've been having my "last meals" all week...maximizing my favorite foods before all-liquid diet starts on February 3. 😜

Hi everyone! It has been a rough few weeks. The surgeon's office set a surgery date for me, but then never submitted my file to insurance. After a lot of back and forth, things got submitted and officially approved. My surgery date is February 13th and I start the 2 week Robard diet today. For the first 12 days I have 3 shakes, 1 bar, and 1 Soup. The last 2 days are 4 shakes and 1 bar. I am sure it's going to be a struggle, but I am going into it with a positive attitude. :)

Oh that's exciting! Do you have to do a pre-surgery diet?

@CeeCee2018, we share a surgery date! I started my pre-op diet today. I’m only allowed three Protein Shakes, one sugar free Jello, and one sugar free popsicles per day! This is gonna be tough, but I’m looking forward to a jump start on my weight loss.

On February 3 (10 days before), I have to go on a no-sugar, low carb all-liquid diet. Unfortunately, no solid foods, like bars, for me. 😥I am looking forward to the little bit of "food" I can have, such as sugar-free Jell-o and sugar-free popscicles!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
