Crappiest part is, I won't even have my depression meds anymore after about 7-8 days (not sure how many pills I have left). Trintellix has given me my brain back. I'm kinda dreading what's to come...waiting on my doctor to get back with me about what to do next :(

The American for-profit health care system in action. I am so sorry.

Most Insurance plans allow for exceptions. If you've shown success on Trintellix, your doctor might be able to appeal? I got my weight loss drug Saxenda on appeal, but only for a few months. Still, it helped my kickstart my success.

Take care of your brain!

Ya'll...I just learned my anti-depressant, Trintellix, is not covered by my new insurance policy AND neither are any of the weight loss drugs we were all talking about last week. I went down the list and checked them all once I finally figured out where in the Anthem website...Contrave, Belviq, Qsymia, Topamax, Saxenda, phentermine, Adipex-P, you name it...NOT covered. So I told the office and she canceled the appointment which is totally fine, I didn't want meds anyway. Crappiest part is, I won't even have my depression meds anymore after about 7-8 days (not sure how many pills I have left). Trintellix has given me my brain back. Apply for patient assistance through the manufacturer. You may be able to still get the Trintellix, possibly for free. Scroll down on the website to the Trintellix link.

You are very welcome! I've been there, so I'm happy to help. Even WITH insurance coverage, I am on a med for an autoimmune disorder that would cost $2300 a WEEK if it wasn't for patient assistance. Now it's $5/month.

Holy cow! Well I am very very thankful that you popped into this thread when you did. I filled everything out and faxed the doctor his portion. It says it should only take 5-7 days after they receive the application. Fingers crossed!

@mousecat88 Surgeon's office lady replied back and said "phentermine + topamax or Contrave", but to let the surgeon know I'm concerned about interaction with the Trintellix. Good to know...

Im not a fan of phentermine. I took it for like 8 months and I lost a lot of weight but obviously gained it all back plus some. It makes you jittery as hell, insomnia, heart palpitations. Ugh. Never again

I meant to come back here and post on my experience with Takeda's patient assistance program, but totally forgot. SO...it's absolutely fantastic! Within days of applying, they shipped me 270 days of medication for free :1296_raised_hands_tone2: Thank you again for suggesting this. You pretty much helped saved my world! :779_heartpulse:

I've actually tried them all. Only thing that actually worked was phentermine. The others costed me about a $100 a month as well. But I was willing to try them for 3 months at a time. Currently my PCP only prescribes me the phen. He only does a low dose of 15mg, never writes for the 37.5 because of the side effects, and it's safe enough for long term use. I've currently been off it for a few months and when I went to pick up my ambien cvs filled so I went ahead and picked it up. I'm currently at 139.6, I'm only 4 lbs shy of 100 lb loss. I'm debating on starting it at the moment.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
